I have some guesses that the problem may be related to
- The location where your game is
- The name of the folder, perhaps because the path is too long
- Because it is in a OneDrive folder, and OneDrive may be having trouble syncing
- Because the folder name has [

But these are guesses, because this feature works, and it works VERY WELL.
It turned out to be the [ in the name of the folder. Thanks for the reply, just for this, I bought the game on Steam xD.

It's a harem game with milfs, so... I'm enjoying the game right now without the picture something, so it was good. And if we can test and like things like this one, it's better to return the favor. It's a good game, and it shows that a lot of work went into it. I'll give it a proper review when I'm done.

Can you add a walkthrough to the game? My English is too bad to understand the choice of game. Although this will reduce the enjoyment of the game, it will help me understand the game's plot better and also make reasonable decisions that suit my thinking.

Yes, I already did it, it should be available from version 3.03

Take a look of this (It's a free post):

Thanks for spending your time answering me. I have never seen a game studio as understanding as you. Most devs here rarely listen to people's opinions or answer questions about their games. It's great that you follow the steps of the few of them.

This is my second attempt at playing this AVN. I'm one of those who get put off by sandboxed games. It's not that I haven't tried, but the vast majority is either filled with grind or the hints are cryptic that have you lost in the middle of nowhere. I learnt that this AVN now features a more conventional "story mode" so I attempted. Visuals look stunning and story had me intrigued despite the minor hiccups along the way with some cringe lines. However, it did not remove anything major from enjoying the story so far until I arrived back at the rented apartment after the first interview with Norah. The hint says "rest" and I'm certain there's no pending quests as these are handled automatically in story mode. I've messaged Norah as well who gave the directions to her home, but how the hell do you fall asleep in this thing? It's 23:00 game time (top left). Clicking on the bed or pillow results in nothing (Oh, I'm using version 3-02-00). I've gone outside, came back in and hovered in every place available but I can't seem to advance from 11pm on the 2nd day, game time.

What am I missing here?

It's strange, you shouldn't have gotten stuck at this point. If I'm correct, you're playing in VN mode, and the message about sleeping and such is just informational. You wouldn't need to do anything; the events are triggered automatically as you progress.

  • Time advancements are disabled in VN mode because you don't need them. In story mode, everything is triggered automatically, but in Our Home, you can, if you want, switch between game modes without it affecting your game.
  • As soon as you write Norah's last message, you should automatically move on to the next event.

  • 1749061083314.png

What might have happened to prevent you from automatically proceeding to the event? The only thing I can think of right now is manipulation of the game states, which could cause you to get stuck. But without your save file, I can't tell why you're stuck.

You can try:
  • Disabling VN mode (on preferences menu), selecting the day and time by clicking on the report in the top right corner, going to the bedroom, and going to sleep, or sending me your save file so I can take a look and provide better guidance.

P.S. I hope you all get past this sandbox "issue". The game has had VN mode for many years, and it works very well.

Yeah, but sometimes it feels like we're missing things. Which is why I'm behind on this. I don't like missing things.
Maybe it's just a feeling, all the content of the Our Home story is completely linked in both ways, it wouldn't even be possible to separate them.

But can you provide me with an example of what exactly you felt you missing?

I did get to that part, but nothing advanced. I had to use suggestion in order to move beyond that point. Thanks for the tip. My latest save it attached. Running the game on Linux but I doubt that should have affected anything.

Just a feeling. Like I'm missing an extra scene or some random event like in other sandbox games that have both modes. Even those devs will says there's minor non-story events with the girls. But I still refuse to play them.

I have a question: you said this was the second time you tried playing this game. Could you tell me if you tried playing from a very old save?

During my tests while working on the rework, I noticed that very old saves, for example, those from the first prologue, didn’t work very well. However, that was a long, long time ago. More recent saves would work perfectly.

I’m asking because I noticed your save contains very old data, from things the game no longer has. Perhaps you played the first version or the early versions and tried playing again now, and the game crashed. I could fix this for you and send you the corrected file; I just need to confirm if that’s indeed the case.

When I talk about the story, I say with total certainty: everything that happens in VN mode happens in Free-Roam mode, and I think that’s the most important part.
  1. Side stories, like the one with the character Juliana, which is a secondary story, are also included in VN mode. What’s not in VN mode yet, but I’m working to add, is something that’ll make the two modes even more similar.

  2. There’s only one Free-Roam event that was created before I made VN mode, which is: you can see Kim sleeping, you can see Norah sleeping, having coffee, taking a bath... But these are such simple things that don’t add anything that I don’t even call them Free-Roam content.

  3. Since the modes are integrated, you can switch modes after finishing the story to grab some extra stuff. What extra stuff?
    1. For now, secret photos and a quiz.

    2. This quiz was made because some people want to keep doing stuff after the story ends. Basically, you answer questions about what you saw while playing to unlock secret photos. So, it’s really about those secret photos.
  4. Things that aren’t part of the main story, but you can see in both Free-Roam and VN modes, are the questions you ask characters, like about their age, hobbies, and stuff. Right now, they show up in both modes, but they’re only programmed in VN for now (For example, questions asked to Ruby and Juliana). But, for example, if you didn’t ask a character any questions in VN mode, you can finish the story, switch to Free-Roam, and ask those questions (When implemented).
I’m working on an update that’ll let you, at the end of VN mode, navigate the map and do these things without having to switch modes in the preferences menu. Then the integration will be 100%.

Being super honest, there aren’t really two modes in Our Home, it’s like it’s just one mode (THE VN MODE). So, it’s not like I’m programming two different games. When I make something for one mode, it’s automatically done for the other.

Just to give you an idea, it’s been a LONG time since I worked on anything for Free-Roam, it’s been all story and more story. It got to a point where people are complaining they want stuff to do after the story ends, which is why I created the quiz and other things.

I had only an "autosave" but I started a new game. I've noticed quite a few hiccups moving forward can't forward to next day, the map with the city not showing up to find Daniella's office so I've switched back to sandboxed mode.

My suggestion is that you delete the persistence file in the saves folder and start a new game. I’m not sure if Linux/Ubuntu creates a specific folder where saves are stored in the operating system, but I imagine it’s something like /home/USER/renpy/GAMENAME/saves (delete the persistence file there too). The issue you’re facing doesn’t related to the game mode; it looks like a data problem.

Very old data can cause this. I have saves from all versions, and from my tests, saves from version 2.2.3 would have issues starting the game. If you used an old save and the game didn’t start from the beginning, that might be the problem.

In your last message, it wasn’t clear whether you managed to move forward or not. Can you give me more details?

Oh, that I did not do. Wasn't sure about the use of the persistent file so I just started fresh. I know where the save files are (~.renpy). I have no problems starting all over again. I remember my choices so I can easily skip to my current position. I'll just delete the entire folder plus "saves" in the game folder and start afresh. Thanks though.

Update: Problems have been resolved after deleting both save folders (.renpy and the one in games)

Hey, guys.
Has anyone been able to find the third art with Emily? The clue said to look in the round-square I changed days/times but still couldn't find the card.
