I had a somewhat similar theory once. When RedLolly just started to work on Lust Campus, she wrote more about herself in a post. From what I remember, I won't look for it, it went like this: she sometimes poses as a nude model for art events. In one of those events she meet Javier (the first artist she worked with) and with the help of her friend Eva Kiss, decided that she could work on a game. You probably noticed a familiar theme.
Just in case you didn't: that is exactly how Ian and Lena meet.
Another interesting coincidence was the release schedule of the 2 games. We all know that ORS started with 2 months updates, which soon turned into 3, until we got to chapter 9 which took like 4-5 months and was released in October-November 2021. LC started with some steady updates, until August-September 2021 when the release date for Chapter 5 was postponed. Soon after, RedLolly said that she will no longer work with Javier and that the game will be re-written. What else was re-written in that period ? From 2022 onward, the development period increased for both games and the rest is history.
Let's say that RedLolly and EvaKiss are the same person. During the GoodGirlGoneBad development she also worked as a model for an art class where she meet Javier. They got accustomed with one another and they start dating. Their story was inspiring, so Eva decided to create a new game: Our Red String. Javier could have offered her hints on how to write a male main character, while she already handled quite well a female main character. They shared ideas, everthything was good. Because it was an intersting line of work and him being an artist himself - they could have decided to extend the business. Eva promoted RedLolly and a good number of people discovered Lust Campus. Eva wrote the story, Javier created the art assets.

In the summer of 2021 they broke up and for Eva, it wasn't pretty. She needed some time to recover and re-writting the games gave her exactly that. Some time to breath, to think about something else and to find a way to save her business. Who knows, maybe that is why Lena enjoys a great deal of success in the latest chapters, while Ian still works on his book, gets nowhere with the boxing tournament and suddenly has cuck tendencies.
If any of this would be true, I guess it could explain why the development time incresed the way it did. I am sure is not easy to manage 2 games, which are not that strainght forward to write. But giving up on one of them would mean to decrees the mounthly income - who would want that?
