VN - Ren'Py - Our Red String [Ch. 12 Full] [Eva Kiss]

Another masterpiece in the making from Eva Kiss. The drawings have significantly improved compared to GGGB. Playing both the female and male protagonists at the same time is quite refreshing. Lots of choices to direct the MCs into the players chosen path, though such paths are still a bit unclear at the current stage of this VN. I just hoped that there would be more freedom to choose more freely on which character does Lena or Ian wants to be with or fuck at certain situations instead of it feeling like the game or the story only leaves the player with one person to do it. (spoiler alert) like for instance when Lena was at the club, the game only presents her with the option to fuck Mike, why not instead have the option to either choose from Mike, Ian or Robert (though I'm not a fan of Robert) at that certain day if she is on more than one path. Anyway, I just thought that it would be much better to have that kind of freedom to choose from. Other than that it's a great VN as expected from Eva Kiss. Can't wait for the next update. More contents for Cindy please though I'd hate for her to choose to be naked for just anyone or for her to be a slut who is available for anyone (never a fan of sharing my girls, no offense to those who are into sharing).

Ok wow I did not expect this game to be this good, I was kinda bored and reluctant at first but gave it a shot, and turns out this is definitely among the best ones I have seen on here, if not the best.

Played the 0.7version and it took maybe ~20 hours or so, not entirely sure.

First of all the art: usually drawings isn't my favorite but there is definitely a ton of artwork put into this and it looks really nice and there are some slight animations during scenes.

The dialogue is among the best I have ever seen, relatable, not cringey at all, realistic and sometimes funny AF.
The characters are unique, and relatable too and there is a ton of interaction which leads to different paths. I also like how the entire game is written from the two different perspectives of the main characters, it's refreshing.
Gameplay is pretty basic, it's a visual novel after all, so that means dialogue choices, an occasional minievent (such as fighting, billiards, etc.) but everything is well done. Oh and you gain/lose money and skills depending on your choices so I guess it is pretty fleshed out for a VN.
The story is intriguing and many characters have their own issues and paths and due to the extremely well written dialogue it is very enjoyable. I actually got invested a bit too much so that I took moral actions which led to me missing out on the majority of the sexual content the first time around. Only after replaying and playing completely slutty did I realize how much the game branches and how different the events and the participants can be. And it all loops back together perfectly into the two sold stories, this must have been a hard and timeconsuming task to achieve!
The sounddesign is on point, you have your usual elevator tracks but also scene related tracks, as well as sound effects, moans, etc - great!

Overall this is an easy 5/5 even if it is not quite finished, but I can tell that the dev put a lot of effort into this.

+ good drawings and many hot girls (and guys I guess)
+ fantastic dialogue / relatable /sometimes very funny
+ mixes up gameplay like minor minigame choices
+ great characters
+ great story, told from 2 sides, many choices and branching paths
- patience required, not a "quick fap" game
- gallery doesn't store sex scenes, but rather photos that can be acquired through friendship/choices and not a total summary of all findings

As Someone who played through Good Girl Gone Bad. I am happy that this has the same quality as that game if not better and that is from someone who usually can't stand VN games. Being able to play from a male perspective is a plus for me as i can relate more then i could with a female. In GGGB i just tried to corrupt as many people as possible and here i'm wanting to actually try different paths.

Simply put, despite what many who down cast this game, this game is slowly but surely becoming a gem of a game by Eva Kiss. And while this review is certainly early, much like many of the reviews I see here from certain ones, given that this game will have 20 chapters and we are just scratching the surface of potential story and content and outcomes, I would like to say to those simply on the fence to wait. Give this game it's due when it is completed and I suspect that you will be surprised with just how well this game is flesh out.

And certainly, there is a lacking of contenting for some of the best girls out there, and we already have showings of yandering and jealous dollies, and intrigue of the highest order!!! ...Okay maybe not the intrigue, but still drama and questions of loyalty to those we consider friends or even more. Some characters you will immediately fall in love with while others you will down right shake your head and hate and others you will laugh at their idiocy.

Bottom Line: A great game in the making that needs to have patience for both it's fans and those who are on the outside looking in.

Won't let me give half stars, I was aiming for a 2.5, middle of the lane score.

It's an okay game but coming off the back of her last game which was outstanding this just feels like a big step back.

It has it's focus on 2 MC's which will always water down the story content because 1 will always outshine the other and that's what happened here but that works against my tastes in this instance.

Being female I was leaning more to Lena's story and also being lesbian it seemed like she has several options for me to pursue there too so was quite happy. My original problem being I wasn't interested in the male MC's side.

So 7 updates in and I have all but lost interest in Lena. She's shallow and lacks severely in the personality department.

When it comes to her romance options all the men seem to be jerks but it was the girl/girl stuff I was interested in and, well, they suck.

The only one with anything going on is Louise her roommate and that got clingy and also Lena kinda shot that down as just a sex thing so feel like I wasted 7 updates trying to build that for nothing.

I don;t know if any of the other girls are options because none of them go anywhere but her best friend is heading down the road of drugs and being a cumdump which goes against her character progress so far, it just seems to do a complete turn this past couple of updates. Ivy went from a confident, street smart girl with her head fully screwed on ad fully confident with her herself to taking some random guy at his word he has money for stuff and is basically about to be taken for a ride in all the wrong ways.

Then there is Holly and she's an okay friend but it just goes nowhere.

On the flip side you have Ian, the male MC, who has a ton of interaction with his friends and some great options for romance.

His story is leaps and bounds ahead of Lena's who's story seems like it's being written by someone else completely. The devs last work had an amazing female lead with tons of options and some great characters to this female lead who is bland in every way from personality to romance options.

The Male MC's story is going great so it's worth playing for that alone but the Female MC is holding it back from being a great game. For a girl like me that loves Female leads to not want to play the female lead disappoints me.

I had high hopes for this and the one part of the story I was looking forward to I think is holding back the game. I really hate to say this but it would have been far better without Lena being a playable character. The dual MC has never worked for me anyway, it always kills the flow of the story when it suddenly switches.

Well worth trying out though, I know some people love it. I just expected better after her last game.

Seems like the negative reviews are about the lack of the taboo paths as in GGGB. Of course these games have some mechanics to it, but at heart they are visual novels so these reviews seem to be a judgment on the story itself. Can we assume a food critic doesn't review an Italian restaurant on the metric of whether they serve sushi?

If we make a comparison to film review, is the idea to critique the plot for not having certain elements or is it more fair to evaluate whether the character work and storytelling works to immerse the player in the story. Personally, by the latter standard, this visual novel-especially relatively to other projects on Patreon-is excellent. Not an artist but the artwork and character models also seems above average.

It's game statues system is grearer than I expected.
The story and characters are very interesting.
It is not just sex game.
It is art game.
And the life.
I am waiting the cafe papa boss fuck lena with caring and treating.
And also others characters love, too.

Ok that's one star for me because I know this developer has the skills to create a really really good (and hot) adult VN, but instead what I played extensively the other day has been incredibly disappointing.
From the artistic side? Fantastic. Content wise? Terrible.
First of all, like other reviewers said, it is a huge step down from GGGB because the hottest kinks and situations you could find there (that were already toned down, i.e. the interesting sort of blackmail dramatic situation we see at the start with Wilson will never ever happen again) are being replaced with a "teen soap opera" (quote) which (imo) renders the plot pretty boring (remeber guys that dramatic events are always good in a plot) and as a consequence the sex scenes far less hot\interesting (there's no "buildup", no attachment to them).
And the worst part is that I can't see this trend of "growing plainness" ever changing, even with a third game. And that's a pity, because I love how intricate these stories are from the "roleplaying" perspective. Unfortunately intricate+boring and plain aren't good enough for me.

This is my favorite game.

Don't understand, why rating is so low. I was expected to see this amazing novel in top list. And what a horrible surprise.
Honestly, i didn't read Your first story ("good girl..") - hard to merge delve into girl-character. But "Our Red Strings" - is just WOW!
Drawings are amazing. I know how hard to draw the same characters from different angles/perspective with different emotions. Plus sex/scenes. Such hard task can break most of the artists. But You're doing it perfect. I'm impressed how You manage with art side of the project.
And the story - uuh)) - You can't imagine how much of time i spent to try different paths. And everytime, my adventure was full of fellings, emotions, thoughts. Caused huge amount of happiness, confusions and suffering by involving me into the story. You opened there dozens of questions which make a lot of pbs in relationsships. I'm very curious, which answers do You have for them. Hard to imagine hor great You see our souls, when You can manage so different and deep characters in one interweaving of destinies.

Amaze ballz.

A cute game with socially coherent reactions. Perhaps a bit too socially aware at times, which is its biggest downside. Other than that you get a plethora of choices that are more than "He will remember that", a variety of good sex scenes (though I'd prefer more variety towards BDSM), and solid art.

The writing quality is overall top-notch, a game where you can read everything without feeling the need to skip anything.

Very well written and immensely fun to play, on par with GGB.

The game gives you great freedom in what you choose to do. You can't have everything, but the branching that is there feels natural and organic.

It feels more realistic and less over the top than GGB, although I suppose as the game develops, there will be some more extreme content (there is already a lot of very naughty stuff in there, although nothing like the Arthur/gang GGB storylines).

Both protagonists feel much more mature and in control of their fate, making Ashley appear childish in comparison. This makes them much more relatable for me, although it might be a downside if you're looking for a pure "good-girl-gets-corrupted" style story.

Super sexy storyline and artwork. Gameplay feels very smooth and the choices add a lot of interesting dynamics. I feel like there's a good consistency between your choices and consequences. Like if you flirt with someone then you will reduce the chances with someone else depending on how attached/detached you are. It would be nice with a better overview of how you've performed, what consequences your choices have had (besides skills) and which scenes you have completed/missed. I guess that might also add a bit to the spice, since it's less predictable.

Fun but TAME!

The great thing with GGGB was the variety.
Vanilla, incest, ntr, cuck, cheating, drugs, bullying, lesbian, trans. It was all there. Only thing missing was bestiality and rape to have it all.

Red String so far is incredibly vanilla. Maybe that will change but it's already a long game and there is basically nothing other than cheating/harem.

To be clear:
I'm not saying a game should ever force extreme kinks. But it's so much more interesting if it offers the opportunity.
With GGGB i really felt that my choices mattered because it ranged from vanilla to murder depending on my choices.
Here... well it's a bit more soap opera ish

Our Red String [the title still intrigues me] is an amazing project... the rich story unravels and surprises, the choices are not only meaningful but often difficult [temptation, huh?] and there is beauty in the detail throughout. But what truly makes this tick is the careful way that each character has been crafted... all of the "cast" are unique and realistic. Fabulous work!

I don't normally write reviews but here is my opinion because I do genuinely like this game.

GGGB was a clusterfuck of ball to the wall drug fuelled sex without a coherent plot. And that is ok. It gave you choices on how to impact the story and you the person playing choose whichever path you wanted all if you wanted and tried all of them.

ORS is a different game to GGGB and its main criticisms boil down to:

#1 2 Protagonists which leads to many problems. Go to point three.

#2 Characters are too realistic and people can't connect with them this happens to all Lena Romances a common reacquiring theme in this thread is nobody likes Lenas Romances except Ian and Axel.

#3 There is an Inverse of GGGB on the matter of Choice because of coherent storyline and needing to write romances for 2 protagonists. Instead of saying being able to fuck Emma, Cyndi, Alison, Cherry, Holly and Lena you are forced to choose which path to go down to. Same thing with Lena instead of being able to both bang Louise and Jeremy you are forced to choose.

I like this game and damn I love the art but this is not GGGB and being forced to follow paths I do not know how they will end especially because I wanted to do stuff I do not know the Author Eva will include makes me sad.

If the Author Eva reads this. Do what you want you are making this game not me and as I am too poor to even support you I can't make any demands about anything. Also do not take this review as an opinion telling you that ORS is bad its not it is very good but its just not my cup of tea.

This game (like GGGB) is a gem.
Personally, i like this one more, because there is a lot of characters that i love (who am i kidding, is mostly because Cindy, i love her!)
Very worth your time

Comparing this game to GGGB, this game lacks the darker theme of GGGB like pornstar, drugslord.
But where this game really shines is its storytelling.
It´s topnotch. You can play both as Ian or Lena giving you both perspectives.

And there is ton of stats to choice to from unlike GGGB which is only good and bad.
This game more in depth choices unlike GGGB.
But perhaps the best part about this game is the more realistic arts, storytelling and settings.

A major step down from Good Girl Gone Bad. In particular it completely lacks the edge and darker material of GGGB. If your preferred routes in the previous game were the incest ones or cucking the boyfriend with his father you'll be disappointed here.

Instead the writing is now that of a teen soap opera. Picture a standard CW drama but with explicit sex scenes and you'll be fairly close to what you can expect out of Our Red String.

I'm sure there are plenty of people out there who do enjoy vanilla romance stuff - and for them this game will be perfectly fine - but for me not a single character or scene was particularly interesting.

In general, the characters, situations, events, and overall writing is just far too plain for me.
