Sorry, it did not work as intended. You pasted the image link instead of inserting the image, for inserting an image use the 10th icon in the upper part of the signature box instead of Ctrl+P. Then you will be asked to provide the link with the signature.
I figured it out after a min or two. I just needed the signature tab ahaha

LOL!!! No. I only ever played the lesbian paths, and even the reference photos she traced over in the Ash x Jess path, which is (IMO) the most romantic of the romantic paths and requires both girls to be relatively good... you still get such fake, porny scenes like the following...

You don't have permission to view the spoiler content. Log in or register now.

These were some of the worst of the lot, where not only does at least one "lover" (tempted to say "performer") spike the camera, the "sex" being done is at that fake angle that is awkward for intimate sex and is more designed to accommodate an intrusive male gaze with a camera. It is especially jarring because Jess with her hair up is supposed to be a good girl who doesn't have to "perform" her sexuality for male approval anymore, and that last shot is from when they decide to live together.

Oh, and lest you think always-the-girl-next-door, non-thug Eva is spared, EvaKiss uses some of the same reference material across scenes with similar participants.

This is why I am hoping that for ORS, she considerably upgrades her taste in reference material...
Not sure why you're so pressed about this. The scenes are hot imo. Do you want it to just be basic missionary and doggy style for each sex scene?

No. Read what I actually wrote. My issue is not with the particular sex acts but with how they are presented. It looks fake and staged. You have two girls who are making love, why is at least one spiking the camera? There shouldn't even be a camera since they're not filming a porno, so who is that one girl staring at the reader looking at? Is there some other perv in the room? And why are they positioned and angled like they're trying to present to a camera, when their only concern should be pleasing their partner?

All these stem from having to trace the images from porn scenes and photos that look very porny, fake and staged.

I think it is more about control. She would have to give up control of her game if she shares writing or art. What happens if 6 months down the line her colorist decides to jump ship? She would have to frantically find another one whos work looks somewhat like the old one or try to do it herself. If you have to churn out a chapter every month it is a bit terrifying to depend on other people. People you just know over the internet.

Running a team also has its own set of problems. Tasks can't easily be divided. If you divide writing, characters might feel different in scenes written by different people. They would have to read each other scenes and correct them which costs extra time. If you divide art, characters will look different which feels off (for an example look at Seeds of Chaos).
You have to explain to people what you want. Then you have to check if they got it right and if not you have to tell them what to change.

Finally there are finances. EvaKiss makes 6-9k a month which is a nice income for one person. Not so much for a team of 5.
Some decisions made by the dev are definitely tied to her financial situation and the patreon income. Back in the early GGGB days she mentioned she was supposed to have a person help her out with the coding, but since she was able to handle it, she opted out of sharing the cash. Her decision to stretch out GGGB's story was also somewhat money related. Most players know there wasn't much substance in the late updates compared to earlier ones. Eva Kiss axed the last announced dlc update for GGGB, and forced ORS' release because she was bleeding patrons after 1.0 to the point she lost about almost 1/3 of her supporters.

ORS appears to be a more ambitious project and I expect for her either to shell out for some additional help or move to bi-monthly update cycle down the line.
Yeah both of you are right. What I am going to say is quite obvious but it remains the reality:

EvaKiss is good but she's not a robot. For this kind of game, you need people to achieve all the tasks (drawning, coloring, development, writing, music...) and most importantly to manage all of them. You can have an idea of what it really takes by reading her previous post. I think the greatest "skill" of EK is that at a time she became aware that she wanted to do adult VN for a living and since that she has known where she wants to go and how. She also knows how to plan, how to develop a story and characters, how to tease and how to communicate about the game.

With ORS she has also managed to find talented people to work with. But to get skilled people you need money and I would almost say you need contracts if you want to make this a living. I know some of you here would be ready (and glad) to contribute almost for free (I know some of you are already doing it on other games) but you can work with the most passionate people, have the most dedicated team, it's almost impossible to claim you can rely on them for like two years or so (I think it was the time needed to complete GGGB?). This is particularly the case when you have another job and you do that on your free time.

Then, well if you have not enough money, everything is not lost but you will need more time to manage all the tasks. And working too long on the same project (either alone or in a team) is risky because at a time you can feel "stuck" on it due to repetitive tasks. That combined to the pressure to achieve it can make you lose motivation and stop the game or rush it in a bad way. And it also means a risk to lose subscribers on Patreon as time goes by...

So time and money are the issues and there is one more EK and all the creators here have to face to monetize their games: they're doing porn games. I saw some people here saying ORS is more like an erotic game and I'm close to think the same because the story takes a huge part on it but well, there are explicit sex scenes, even if it's drawn, it remains explicit...
So porn game means: not mainstream, underaged people are totally out of this (at least legally ;) ) and you can only purchase it on very specific platforms. (Yeah I know those games could be on huge platforms like Steam, but I'm curious to know what are the real profits made by adult games on Steam). Worse still, people who like porn don't necessarily like that kind of games. So monetization is really hard and even if I'm not a fan of Patreon System (I prefer paying one time for a full game rather than small amounts each months) it has its benefits for this kind of games but it also means you have to deliver regular content...

Let's hope that one day (and it's funny because I thought of this a few times ago) adult studios could support this kind of sex content instead of "shitty" porn movies (with that you can take part of the discussion of what Olivia_V said haha). At least once to try it (and I think ORS or BaDIK could be great examples)... ;)

Yeah, as Olivia mentioned it's not about the sex acts but the "performance" in them that breaks the immersion. The porn scenes are shot with the viewer in mind, with certain positions being awkward, certain facial expressions present only to entice the camera. And to add on that, porn photoshoots have twice the amount of staged positions and unnatural facial expressions. because they are shot exclusively to tease and present the action in the most alluring and open way possible, which is why they are bad for references. Even screenshots from the actual video would make a better reference material than promo photos.
If you are writing a very intimate and loving scene, you want to convey this intimacy visually as well, with eye contact (with their partner, not the camera) or closed eyes to show concentration. There is artistic porn out there that is shot this way, usually known as "female-friendly" or "feminist porn", where the focus is on emotion rather than action and the camera is ignored by performers for more immersion. And let me tell you, it makes the footage look hot as fuck! So, if the scene is written to be romantic, it's very jarring to see the pornified sex with 0 intimacy or chemistry on-screen. And it's also true for hard sex as well, honestly, because raw emotion of hard fucking can't be conveyed in still shots for promotion.

Just compare this Jessica scene that Olivia mentioned with the latest Louise scene. Which is hotter for you?

Which Louise scene? The one with her and Jeremy? I'll admit that one was hot because of the voyeuristic nature of it but the Jessica one was also very hot. Whether the characters make eye contact with each other or with the "camera" has never been a problem with me nor has it ever taken me out of a scene as I'm more interested in the sexual acts they're engaged in as opposed to where their eyes are looking. I understand wanting to convey a certain feeling by not having the characters looking at the "camera" and breaking the 4th wall sort to speak but for me that never impeded my ability to feel what the scene was trying to convey. With the Jessica scene I still felt the connection between her and Ash regardless but that's just me.

I see where you're coming from but it's just stuff I never really noticed nor cared about. It never impeded my ability to enjoy the scene and understand what was being conveyed. As for being positioned towards the "camera" isn't that for us, the reader, to better see what's going on? I'd rather that than the sex being obstructed because someone's leg or something is in the way. Many real porn videos where they don't make it a point to make sure the viewer can see ends up being boring because you can't see anything.

I kinda feel like 1 month is not enough for a chapter of this magnitude. Evakiss shouldn’t be constrained to the deadline but should strive to complete whatever she wants to do for each chapter.

But I feel like patreon makes her feel like she need to deliver something monthly.
I hope she doesn’t sacrifice anything for it.
She has been delivering monthly for two years already to complete GGGB. If she takes two months I'm sure the updates will be twice the size.
She takes development like a job unlike most weg devs.

You like it looking fake? Then have fun. I don't, because it takes me out of the scene. Spiking the camera in particular is such a blatant, "hey director, how are we doing? 1 more minute of this, then switch?" The only thing missing is the idiot director actually barking out instructions while the camera is rolling.

There are ways to capture a sex scene without it being boring and without it being blatantly obvious you're trying to mug for the camera. That's why I said I hope EvaKiss' taste in reference material improves, because there are studios and directors out there that have shown that there are ways to convey the action of a sex scene without resorting to the performers having sex at blatantly awkward angles just to please the camera.

You can have positions that allow you to see and don't look bizarre at the same time. Examine the image where Ash fucks Jess with a strap-on. Legs are too wide, the slightly turned angle is strange... It doesn't feel like they have sex and you just happen to watch it like a voyeur. It feels like you're on the front seat and they're performing for you, trying to look sexier for you, trying to turn you on, gauging your reaction, etc. I know it never bothered you but you can have a nice middle ground where the action looks realistic, passionate, emotional, and allows you to see everything you need at the same time.

Also, about the inferiority of still photos to the action itself. I personally really like how Deeper.com shoots their videos. They are action-heavy, but they are also well-acted. But you can't see that from the still promo shots:
Notice how promo still is staged as hell.

In comparison, here's the screenshot from the trailer that despite being equally graphic actually shows a true look of lust.

Don’t mind me, just asking for a friend. Can I have the name of one of those studios?

Agreed. It's a first that I've heard someone complaining that the sex scenes were too... sex-like? That lesbian scene was hot and the Louise one was perfect. My only complaint on that were if it were longer, but that's more a complement than anything.

Not trying to be an ass, but it looks like "upgrades her taste" means here "make it closer to my own". In this case lesbian naturalistic porn, it seems.

Nothing wrong with that, mind you, but personally I don't think that's an upgrade at all, just a different taste, kink or sensibility. And also hope Eva doesn't do that and uses that kind of porn as the ideal reference material. To each their own.
