Maybe to you. I know not all my casual conversations among friends necessarily dial to one hundred the political angle.
In this instance Ian and the gang were arguing about porn and kinks, nothing more. You would have seized the opportunity to make a political stance? Good for you (seriously, nobody said political is a dirty word, that was a straw man fallacy you played
). Others don't.
You seem to be doing in a unconscious manner when you equate it to a political discourse. One doesn't need to start preaching to show how they think, a simple conversation between friends can reveal how they see and interact with the world around. Which is what happens between them (ian and the others at the bar).
But in my playthrough Lena have sex with Robert & Mike and still get good Jess
Here the save file
NOOOOOOO.....WHYYYYYYY, So to get good Jess you have to play as good Lena? Won't Lena lose her job if she don't have sex with Robert?
Yep. Probably the strangest design decision made in the game so far...
To be sure, one can do much worse for marginalized groups than simply not discussing them. That option exists and it manifests frequently in our society, not merely in high-profile instances.
And, yes, I'm glad we are having this discussion. Glad we are having it now.
One of the issues I've been reacting against here is the sentiment that we shouldn't even be voicing this criticism.
Like, much of the criticism that I've read here is not about Wade having very plausible stances on the subject, not asking that his dialogue be removed -- but instead that the player have more options to respond to Wade.
They seem to be asking for more expression, not less ..
I like this human, he understand. I would have give some likes but i am out of them for today.
So, my views on this have done a complete 180.
Last time I went through I was skipping Ian's story to get to Lena's and get her and Louise together.
Now I really can't stand Lena's story and 3 things have made me enjoy Ian's.
The thing with Lena and Louise is just so shallow and empty it's a completely pointless pairing. I'll explain. In GGGB all the lesbian romance options were fantastic. From the casual experimenting with her best friend to their falling in love, watching Ash and Jess get closer and Jess with her fantastic character growth. Even the trans romance and her character growth was fantastic to watch. All 3 were great.
There isn't a single good lesbian romance here. I don't see Ivy going anywhere, it just doesn't fit. Holly is so forced on Lena's path if you try and look at it as more than friends and after this update it's completely shit on Louise.
At one point Louise asks Lena if she shouldn't be more caring towards her after what has happened between them for Lena to just say "for what, it's just a thing that happened" and then think one morning that it's happened a bit too much. Just shit on the route completely and made it feel empty.
I also noted we have Alison with ex trouble, Lena wit ex trouble and Cherry having issues with someone she likes ... and soon to be Cindy with ex trouble. Anyone else think the ideas are running thin on what to do with characters here, it sure feels like it.
From really enjoying Lena's side to now really not liking it at all to going back and trying different things on Ian's path and finding there are 3 things that make it great.
I did start with Cherry but the whole "this guy I like where nothing ever happened turned back up and now my heads a mess" made me dismiss her completely.
Alison and her whole "I like you but I won't tell you that I like you and then i'm going to fuck your friend while still hinting I want to date you and constantly bringing up my ex .... please love me" just no.
Question to the guys, are women really like that?
I know I should know, I also date women, but lesbians tend to be quite straight forward. There are usually very few of us in one place so we need to be up front about what we want or we get nowhere. Just curious if straight women are that backwards.
As for the saving graces .... Holly, Cindy and Minerva.
Holly on Lena's route is a terrible option .... Holly on Ian's route is god tier. Cindy and Ian have had chemistry since the start and banging the bitchy boss is hella fun.
It almost feels like Lena is written by someone else completely. All of Ash's g/g stuff in GGGB was awesome .... here it's so shallow and emotionless it makes the sex scenes feel forced and didn't enjoy them. When the lesbian is saying she doesn't want to see the lesbian sex scenes you know something is wrong.
To go from one minute really liking Lena and not wanting to read Ian's half to really disliking everything about Lena and enjoying Ian's route .... it's weird. There isn't a single thing on Lena's route I enjoy while Ian has not only great stuff going on with his friends but with some of the girls.
It's weird that a female dev that did an awesome game with a fantastic female lead has come back with such a shallow female character. Can't explain that.
Before the discussion about how to better portrayal trans people in dialogue i had mentioned about how i was feeling that Lena's wasn't really much the focus of this latest update when compared to Ian.
His relationship with Minerva, all that tension and hatred between them turning into sexual energy was great. And it is nice that they are turning their dalliances into a habit.
Same with Cindy and all the heart to heart moments they have been sharing across the game so far culminating into that animalistic sex scene in the middle of the street, too bad they got caught red-handed.
Even Alisson was good if you focus on her, altought her jealousy in some moments seems like she clearly wants to be more than just FWB. She clearly has a dirty mind when it comes to sex despite her "eww porn" moment during this latest update.
Meanwhile Lena got a truth or dare game (hot but nothing much happen, just a tease), a (as you pointed out) empty relationship with Louise (she is also more clingy than i like). Don't even get me started on slimebag Roberts and while Mike isn't the same level of scumbag this affair will likely end badly when his girlfriend find out.
I was expecting some Holly content, that is why i made sure to keep Lena friendly with her but even then she isn't invited to come with Holly. Still i will hope for some development on this front next update.
Meanwhile Ivy is going the party hard/use drugs route while falling for the shady scheme of Jerome's friend. If Lena asks how he will pay his models the guy says he has no idea how and he redirects to talk about his grandiose idea of making a big model agency with his mysterious funding. It seems like it is going to be kinda hard for Lena to follow her unless going the same corruption way.
Maybe something can happen with Emma? She did offer to play with Lena and i can only hope.
Speaking from my own experiences when i'm interested in someone, what I don't do is fuck someone else and keep dropping hints i'm interested in them.
It's a bit weird.
Way I saw it, if a girl was interested in me then banged one of my friends, i'd never be able to go with them. I just find it a bit weird going where my friends have gone.
Plus if she was as interested in Ian as she says, like ready for a relationship, then she wouldn't have been fucking his friend.
The only interaction i'd had with her before going for a drink was getting a selfie and having a drink where she complained about her work and her ex. She mentioned nothing about being interested in him until after fucking Jeremy by which point it's far too late.
I took it as Alison wanting to make Ian jealous to move and go after her in the game. Still can't really say something like this happened to me in real life. I think it would be strange...
