I was disappointed to see she de-emphasized the BBC fetish and just made it big cocks for Lena to be into. I was hoping Ian/Lena could have something of a QoS ending that we never got in GGGB
Same. I get why she did it but it was a bit unnecessary imo. There's still potential for some really good and hot routes though (like with Holly) so hopefully those end up being pretty good

Well, she "kinda" did if Ashley stayed with Eric but made all the other right (or wrong) choices. But I'd hardly call what they had in the end an actual relationship. Ashley just went all evil super-cunt, despising and using Eric through to the game's conclusion. Not really a satisfying ending based on the writing. Ash staying with someone she absolutely despised, just to toy with him, was a bigger stretch than the three she got at the pool party. The tracings at the end of that path were from some of the worst porn imaginable, too. But TBF, the ending was there.

At this point in ORS though, dildo will be retconned to pink with green polkadots by chapter 11. I just know the original set-up was supposed to be Ian watching Lena take that ridiculous Darth Vader Dong on stalkerfap, jacking like crazy while he did it, thus further opening the path you described. But with the recent retcons, including Bleached Billy, it's clear Eva's intentionally going back on those plans quite a bit, possibly due to a number of fans gripes with that content or worries about negative reactions on Steam.
Must be a vocal minority. Blacked has been one of the most popular porn studios out there for years. The market is there and, ironically, she'd probably have a huge boost if she got the courage to go all in. She almost nailed it in GGGB

Yeah there's still some hot stuff, and we still do have Jeremy and the bouncer even if Billy got retconned. Did she say why she did it or are we just assuming it was outcry from the "money"?

Uff - thats a hard decision to make. Not sure what I want tbh.

Now we will probably get the full chapter 10 around Christmas in the best case - more realistic is Feb/march? Chapter 9 released in Nov 2021. Yes we got the remaster, but that is not a really the same as a new chapter.

Then its a whole year for the new chapter (from ch9 remaster, april 2022). And sure - she says that the half 10 chapter is as big as chapter 5, but hey .. that is maybe the problem ^^

I think she should have tried this approach (Ian now, Lena later) for chapter 10 and see how it works for her and the players. After that she could try to change how she handles the next chapter - maybe more switches to get a shorter update with both sides out for chapter 11 part 1/part 2.

But ok - now we have to wait ...

Hi am new to the game and enjoying it so far. I was wondering though how much of the game is completed? Are we talking 25% or 50% or something else?
Hard to say, the developer hasn't really set any hard end goals outside of it being at least 20 chapters. So, provided she ends up completing the game, under 50%?

Seeing that some major arcs are barely getting started, I'd say 25% at most. If compared to GGGB and the state of Lena's corruption currently, I'd even go so far to say it's less than 25%. But I could be way off here as we don't really know how far Eva is going to take it in ORS.

Nope. Just us making guesses. But I'm assuming a few things. Key word "assuming": #1. 2020 happened and that sort of content geared specifically to race is growing even more out of favor by a larger genpop, at least in porn. That same zeitgeist has done the exact opposite just about everywhere else, ironically. (The latter strongly drove the former, I suspect, but won't bore you with why). #2. Eva's self-doubt may be getting to her on some ORS themes too closely reflecting those in GGGB and maybe doesn't want to seem too predictable or one-note (or that her games have a recurring prevalence for certain fetishes... a la EvaQOS). #3. The previously mentioned griping + perception & accessibility/controversy concerns.

From some of her early comments I think she's gotten too hyper focused on making it different from GGGB. Which, you don't want to just copy paste a previous game but at the same time it's ok to have similar themes and still make it good.

Hmm... makes sense, I guess. By the metrics I'm seeing, like pornhub trends, google trends, and so forth, IR porn isn't going out of favor by that much. Peaked in 2014, long before Eva even began or 2020, but the trends look stable.

Kinda silly considering it's basically a sequel, set in the same universe. If people play one game, of any genre, they would normally expect to have the same ideas be explored again in the next game, right? Anyway. Yeah, whatever the reason, my expectations are lowered. And this delay, oof...

Agreed. I strongly suspect making it different is a large part of it. But porn is a unique form of media where (theme-wise at least) when it works, it works.

Car designer: "Last year's model was just too 'Round Wheels'.. So 2021. I'm thinking we gotta go with rectangles, this year. Really mix things up."

Plus, I mean, there's only so many ways you can do sex. Especially in a game based on present-day young adults with so many paths already. Repeating a sexual theme shouldn't be such a big concern, especially considering she was drawn to writing that path in the first place. Feels like setting limits out of fear of your own limitations.

Well, yeah. It's not totally dead yet or anything. But interest in that niche has declined more rapidly over the past few years. Niches move with culture, to be replaced with other equally divisive ones. Predicting an upcoming wave of gen-z content creators, I'd wager $1000 on catgirls with dicks. A bet I'd rather lose, but it all still spends the same.

Nah, Eva has said more than once that ORS will be darker in terms of realism, but more timid in terms of corruption, so this comparison makes no sense. Also, as has been said here, she strongly avoids any resemblance to GGGB lest she be accused of self-plagiarism.

Seeing that some major arcs are barely getting started, I'd say 25% at most.
This, too, is far-fetched. She could very well develop these branches in the remaining ten or so chapters she is willing to do.

I mean, almost everything on Lena's route reminds me alot of Ashley from GGGB so far. There's a whole lot of similarities. Be it the slutty friend, the instagram, the drugs, clothing, tattoos, sextoys, progressing the corruption to a point where Lena is likely gonna end up as cam model or pornstar of sorts (speaking of Wildcats and/or Jeremy's friend). Even the drawing sessions are something we've already seen in GGGB. Obviously it's not entirely the same, but it feels very similar, atleast to me. That's where my comparison is coming from. Like I said, it's not the exact same, but saying it doesn't make sense is something I'd strongly disagree with.

Surely Eva isn't trying to create a GGGB 2.0, but when I did my first playthrough I kept running into situations where I had this strong feeling of playing an "upgraded" version of GGGB. So what Eva may have said is one thing, but my experience with the game so far tells me otherwise.

Anyway, I didn't know of such a statement from Eva, so if you say that ORS is not taking it that far in terms of corruption, I believe you. We'll see in a couple years I guess.

There are similarities between the games, but they are more due to the fact that both Ashley and Lena are in the same age range which leads to part-time jobs, figuring out what to do with your life, partying, drugs, experrimenting in your sex life etc. Maybe it's (partly) inspired by Eva's own life, I don't want to speculate.

To me both games feel very different because in GGGB it felt like Ashley could end up in every situation possible, even really crazy ones, whereas ORS is much more grounded and realistic and therefore much more limited (I doubt we'll ever be able to fuck one or even both of Lena's parents!). The similarities might be intentional to show the differences.

I think if Eva made a more sophisticated GGGB clone with the visual improvements we see in ORS, it would've been even more popular than ORS currently is.

She can even build on top of established characters and how they change through the player's choices. Take Jessica from GGGB, make her the protagonist, put her into a new setting, and you're good to go because you already have a fan base familiar with your work and the character you're developing. It might sound somewhat uninspired for a creatively ambitious creator, but it's a reliable business plan.

I have a slightly different look at comparing GGGB and ORS. It's like two different generations of the GTA series, how to compare GTA III and GTA IV. Our Red String is a huge qualitative leap forward.
