What two characters? Wen and Yuri are the two experts. Ian only recently started, and is therefor pretty ignorant of technique, Jeremy is really more of a meathead than an actual fighter, and Robert is well... Robert. In the actual fight Ian has with the other fighter, it is made very clear that he is trying to avoid the submission maneuver at all costs. It isn't until Ian wears him all the way down that he can finally get him into a solid submission. Even then, in some cases Ian is forced to use a Will Point to end the fight via submission.

Wen and Yuri both have a healthy respect for martial arts as a whole, they just have their specialty, which all fighters do. Even MMA fighters.
I think the guy/gal is talking about the first ianxrobert fight outside the bar Where if You grapple Robert he mocks ian by saying he kept hugging me or something like that

What I would like to happen: Ian and Ivy hit it off, have a genuine connection, and things escalate from there, Ivy dealing with the turmoil of having feeling for someone in a long time, and Ian exploring her wild side with her, but with romance.

What is probably going to happen: Ivy fucks Ian for self-interested reasons, like proving to Lena he's no good or something, or some dumb cuck stuff where Ian will watch/hear about how she fucks other guys.
I think it will be more inbetween.

I think if Ian keeps things up with her, certainly dependant on whether or not involved with Lena/Holly, it could go two ways.

Way one: A actual possible romance that is heartfelt and genuine, and a pleasant surprise to Ivy, who I think expects Ian to fuck her simply because he is a guy, but if we don't chase after her for the sexual merit, it's more of a boon than anything.

Way two: It is possible that she could try to fuck Ian, if we are involved with Lena/Holly, and try to prove Ian is a bad choice for either, though I doubt the whole cuck stuff or watching her get fucked/hear about it would apply. But then again, EK has gone full retard with panderment so maybe.

I think you are confusing views of the game's author with views of one characters in the game, Jeremy, who is intentionally written by the author as someone who is trying to pose as "tough macho motherfucker". Every fighter* other than Jeremy (including the actual trainers) well recognize the advantages provided by grappling. It's the main reason why one of them recommends Ian to focus on these techniques, in fact.

*) i don't include Roberts in the fighters, obv. He's just a random aggressive drunk.
Yup, Yuri straight up tells Jeremy that he's gonna get lit up by an experienced grappler and lo behold Wen shows us by slamming Jeremy to the ground. :KEK:. Calling grappling gay is a stereotype, people should know this by now.

How characters react to grapples, the two characters who are supposed to be knowledgeable about martial arts say "that shits gay bro" one even says he doesn't believe in jujitsu. Be one thing if it was only and he wasn't meant be someone with YEARS of experience. If you use a grapple in a street fight, which is the second most logical option next to running, you get mocked. It's very pointed and likely written by someone who is ignorant to why grapples are actually feared for how effective they are, or by someone who got their ass handed to them a couple times because someone got grappled and pinned.
A dude groping other dudes. That shit is gay bro.

Even Ian, as he begins, is not the typical guy you would associate with a girl like Lena. But unlike Stan, he already has the potential to bridge the gap between them, because he's working out at the gym (which is building his body confidence), socialising with his friends (some of whom are pretty outgoing and push Ian to go further on the social scene) and his determination to succeed as a writer, gives him a belief in himself, that Stan just totally lacks.

Stan could do all those things himself. He could lose weight and work out in the gym, to get a better body. He could buy more fashionable clothes, work on developing his social skills and building his confidence in general. But until Lena, pushes hard for him to do that, he just sits behind his computer screen, saying 'poor me' and how the world never gives him a fair shot. If you make the effort, there's usually someone out there for you. But if you don't, then most of the time unsurprisingly, there's nobody.

But it also requires you to have realistic expectations of who you could end up with. Because he spends most of his life in front of a computer screen, Stan fantasises that he could get the hot girl, and because she's not horrible to him, begins to believe that maybe she wants him too. Poor social skills, mean you often misinterpret people being nice to you, as evidence they like you in other ways. And occasionally maybe they do. But most of the time, they're just being nice to you. But you don't see that, because you're desperate for them to fancy you, as much as you 'think' you fancy them. And because you devote so much attention to pursuing a girl who'll never want you that way, you miss the one who would, if only you were paying attention elsewhere.

Holly is the obvious girlfriend for Stan. If he put as much effort into pursuing her, as he wastes in a forlorn effort to land Lena, he'd end up with a cute girlfriend, who just happens to have a hot future as a writer. Both of them are nerds, so they have tons in common. And unlike Lena, he'll never have to worry about what she might be getting up to, on those nude modelling shoots?
If Lena-Stan is so unrealistic how come Holly-Ian ever makes sense?
People in this thread always talk how Ian is this winner chad, why will he go for the geek when he has better options?
I agree with you about Holly-Stan btw.

I think on the open route, Ian, Lena and Ivy could have a threesome together. It seems one of the obvious choices, since Ivy is already aware of Ian's fantasy.

This. Stan's fans are self inserting. What you can't experience in life, you live through books, movies and games, which is a bitter and sad reality for some.
Wait for AI girlfriends, it'll be as real as it gets :HideThePain:

though I doubt the whole cuck stuff or watching her get fucked/hear about it would apply.
You can tell her you prefer her feet when she texts you during the beach event. Maybe this will lead to nothing or maybe to some cuck stuff

It's less gay to suck a dick :KappaPride:

Not to defend Stan but I bet he makes more money programming than Holly from writing. Being a writer is not very lucrative unless you are a famous and a prolific one.
It's told in game that she's famous and successful

Depends on how popular Holly's books are supposed to be and what kind of programming job Stan has. But you're right, I can definitely see Stan making more money.

I meant it more as a response to "why would Ian date Holly, but Stan not date Lena". Writing is one of Ian's main passions and him and Holly bond over that, Holly is also career wise where Ian wants to be. What can Stan and Lena bond over besides spying on and masturbating to their roommates?

(The actual answer is photography, but there are photographers in Lena's life with more experience, better looks, and better personalities than Stan.)

Ian has 3 models to flirt with, the whole "writing career" means nothing when you want to get your dick wet with the best option out there.

The problem with dating a really hot woman, is that everyone else thinks so as well. If you're in any way possessive, as Stan definitely is, it's gonna be a rollercoaster of emotions. To successfully date a woman like Lena, requires either supreme confidence or a very easygoing personality. Stan has neither of those.
I think is about trusting your partner, a girl doesn't have to be the hottest model in town to get multiple opportunities to cheat on you. Of course, sometimes your trust will be betrayed and you will be hurt. But what's the point of being in a relationship with someone you don't trust?.

I'm not saying that you are wrong because your view is pretty common nowadays but I don't agree with dividing people in "leagues" or rankings based on how hot they are. If you are just looking to have sex then sure, the hotter the better. But people aplying the same criteria to partners in a serious relationship is probably one of the reasons for divorce rate being so high. Sex is important in a relationship but you are also going to spend a lot of time with the other person not having sex and that person is also going to age. Personal compatibility, morals and having similar views on what kind of life you want in the future are way more important than hotness.

Stan biggest problem is not being fat and ugly. His biggest problems are being a social retard, an incel and a shallow person that thinks he loves Lena without really knowing her just because she is hot and she didn't call the police on him for being a creep.

Well that's why you as the player get to decide if Ian wants to get his dick wet or wants a loving relationship with someone he connects with. Besides the model thing doesn't really matter when every love interest is attractive, even the ones that aren't models like Alison.
