The first two conflicts between Ian and Axel occurred indirectly because of Lena, the first one being in the bar and the second one being the more physical one outside the nightclub. I guess the third one will be no different with the difference that now lena won't be able to stop it from happening.

I'm not sure I see things escalating between the two. If Lena isn't in a relationship with Ian and doesn't desire Axel but keeps things civil with him it seems like Axel actually cools down with the possessiveness. I say this due to the interaction during Lena's bar job.

I guess it will be based on the decisions we make, for example if at the nightclub it's mike who confronts alex, I guess that will cause a fight between those two instead of ian in the future.
As lena said, axel likes to win and humiliate other men, which means that the encounter happens somehow or not.
