I guess it makes different playthroughs even more radically different. Replayability is a good end goal, and it must be nice to think of all that branch writing paying off more often. I think it gives the game a very Multiverse vibe. I do have to admit that I find some of the choices very difficult personally to make, and I don't think I can bring myself to go down the darkest paths.
It might seem that way in a metagaming sense, since we, the players, know from looking at the code what qualifies for certain outcomes and game for them.
