There's some overleap between what we learn from/about Gillian and Mike and their respective partners, but Lena's brother has been a complete no-show so far, so him turning out to be Gillian's guy would be a pure ass pull, compared to the alternative. So, while not completely impossible, makes it pretty unlikely.

I would like Spike to appear at some point, should bring the Lena family drama to a culmination, whether she finally reconciles, working their differences or finally break, leaving them to their probably debt-ridden fate. But other than that he should be a one note character. Would be funny if he was one of Emma's crazy roommates though.

On the Mike-Gillian theory thing, I think Ian never knew who the guy was. If I understood correctly, according to Mike they probably met in their hometown where Gillian was eventually gonna take her Master's and hooked up there. Mike only arrives in Baluart 3 months before the start of the story, if memory serves.
But I'm 100% sure Jeremy knows, he always acts a little off when Mike's girlfriend is mentioned.

Jeremy met with Gillian at the club when she was on her girls' night out. Now this is where it gets a 50/50; maybe she was also with Mike and entertaining their friends, or it was just a normal girl's night out where she didn't interact with Mike at all. I lean towards the former.

He's really bad with money and doesn't pay it back. it's why lena gets so pissed when she finds out the money she was giving her mom was going straight to her useless brother.

Spike is too young to be anything regarding to the cast. He is younger than Lena who is younger than Ian. Gillian had to leave Ian for a schoolboy, when someone like Mike makes much more sense.

Spike is a non character, just like Hollys sister, Minervas husband, you name it. He just exists to characterize the prevailing characters.

I would find it dissapointing if Mikes ends up being the mysterious guy, but it's pretty much a sure thing at this moment. Him not appearing in any photo on Gillian's Instragram is a pretty artificial way to keep the "mystery" alive. I hoped for someone that would have explained the secrecy and would have worked as a plot twist, like Ian's dad or something.

Since Lena and Ian don't know any asian girls as far as we are aware, it could also just be a weird way for the narration to say that she was hanging out with someone we don't know.
But that's probably reacing, there aren't always specific reasons behind every minor detail.

Initially when Ian encounters Gillian again and they can sit down to talk, Ian says something along the lines of "you're still with him then?" which gave me the impression that Ian at least knew who her cheating partner and boyfriend is, but that's not necesarily the case.

Yeah, it's all deliberately phrased as him knowing about the guy, but not knowing who the guy is and what he looks like. Which isn't that weird.

The biggest things for me are the fact that Gillian is trying to re-establish contact with Ian right when Mike mentions that there are issues in the relationship with his GF and also the way Mike describes the way the relationship started, like the tensions was there for a while and "it got messy" before they got together.

Also just like with Mike's girlfriend, they deliberately tease but don't show Gillian's bf. Even her Peoplegram page is surprisingly barebones, no couple selfies or anything in sight.

The biggest things for me are the fact that Gillian is trying to re-establish contact with Ian right when Mike mentions that there are issues in the relationship with his GF and also the way Mike describes the way the relationship started, like the tensions was there for a while and "it got messy" before they got together.

This happens at the exact time when Ivy fucked Mike. So Mikes girlfriend likely suspects Mike of cheating on her, even on playthroughs when Lena doesn't pursue him.

Mike/Gillian is not that obvious on a blind playthrough. It's only apparent if you go through the game multiple times like many users here. So its still a decent surprise.
Also, it being expected isn't a flaw and just punishing the audience and making their partners someone else just to troll them would cost Eva a solid plotline just for some cheap giggles. Though considering their treatment of Ivy, I wouldn't be surprised if they don't bother working on her just because of pettiness and spite. People can be that pathetic.
