They are both: the game checks how the player directed Lena so far, and then gives the player option to match this from Ian's side, by making him act insecure about it.

I'd say give it time. The route has barely been introduced. It started from Lena's sexual exploits triggering Ian's unexpected reaction but I'm sure Ian will get an opportunity to explore his feelings on that whenever you play as him next time. After all, he didn't have time to process the outcome of Alison's threesome either (if he underperformed).

Personally, I don't want to make the job harder for Eva that it already is, but I'll make sure that everything is as consistent as possible. At least now Ian and Lena have separate cheating variables that could make it easier to track their morality and thus openness to some questionable decisions. So hopefully there'll be less unexplained personality swings. Maybe Eva will introduce some additional variables like that that would track Ian or Lena's behavior across all of the relationships, not just with each other.
