I don't like him as the protagonist tho, he feels like a side character but dunno maybe I'm being biased because I'm a girl. Still even someone like Wade feels more like a main character design than Ian
So the MC needs to be unshaven and have a pot belly?

She could've had a massive body count for all we know, and I guess Holly's slut path should be criticized because she did become a slut way too easily I guess. Its not bad per se, but yeah we can say without any doubt that it could've gone better.
The slut Holly path is not quite as far out as you seem to think. It becomes pretty clear over the run of the game that Holly wants to have a chance with Ian whatever it takes. Depending on how we play Ian Holly makes the either partly wrong or right assumption that Ian prefers slutty girls.
It becomes pretty obvious by dialog if Ian and wild Holly get it on during the getaway and at the end of Ian´s ch.13, that Holly went this way to finally get her chance with Ian. If Ian and wild Holly now get into a relationship I doubt she´ll continue on the slut path like this. Getting Ian was her goal, she made it and so her slut days would be over, unless Ian really likes his girls full slutty.

Rolling the romance paths in with each other seems inevitable, if for no other reason than ease of development.

That said, Holly/Ian could have divergent paths for a while where the old route, the Ian/Holly romance from the bookfair, could perhaps be allowed to "catch up" if Ian and her were to get some options to explore sexual encounters with other people for example. So I could perhaps see Eva veering a version of her old route off into a sluttier direction, if chosen by the player, which will then intersect with the Slut Holly romance, if the player sticks with it, at some point. So Ian could have a more wholesome romance with Holly or a more slutty one in the same vein as Ian/Alison sharing or Ian/Emma open relationship.

That is a pretty convincing theory, given we have the option on the fully romantic Ian/Holly path to keep going on or encourage Holly to get out of her shell more. It could certainly be a path branching off with one being encouraged Holly "just" becoming more bold and self-assured (see the getaway where encouraged Holly wears the sexier bikini) and another converging with the slutty Holly romance.

I know Lena won't tolerate Ian and Cherry's romance and it will lead to a breakup. What about the rest of Cindy and Emma?

You managed to confuse me further which is an impressive feat :BootyTime:

How is the pothead with a potbelly who's allergic to change a better main character 'design'?

Like i said, he's taller. :sneaky:

Slightly more seriously, it's not the first poster who makes that complaint, and that seems to align mostly with Ian's kind of "non-threatening average guy" image/energy which, to be fair, isn't that common as far as romance protagonists go.

Nah I understand. Post-manifesto Stan is probably her go-to as an MC for ORS.

Slightly more seriously, Wade doesn't fit any female romance stereotype that I know of. The only characters I could think of are Axel and pre-Simpocalypse Seymour.

As someone who reads romance books for fun, you're mostly right, but an MMC can definitely start out like Wade, usually because something bad happened to him in the past. But by the end, he almost always changes, either to win the love of the FMC or because she inspires him to become a better version of himself.

Archetypes like Axel and Seymour tend to show up more often in erotica than in traditional romance. In romance, there are plenty of brooding bad boys, but not outright pieces of shit like Axel or Seymour. Or maybe I just avoid books that feature guys like that, so I don’t come across them often, I don’t know.

I think he can be viewed as a combination of arguably handsome in not too distant past (Wade was the most popular out of the scooby doo gang AND the one who got Cindy interested enough to get in relationship with him in the first place) and the "i can fix him" material, where the player could convince themselves that they're the one who'd restore him to glory where Cindy has failed.

I would still be very interested in playing an ORS prequel which starts at the first Axel/Lena/Cherry threesome (let's not forget that the arguably hottest scene of this story has never been shown) and where the male MC is Axel, and you get to choose if you cheat on Lena on top of the threesomes or not. And you get to choose as Lena whether you forgive Axel or break up with him....Or, as an act of contrition, ask him to share you with Jeremy....

I can confirm this! Axel and Seymour are usually toxic possessive type of men in women's erotica. Like you are mine whether you want it or not. Bad boys are not really bad boys when it's pure romance because they are often tsundere and then warm up to FMC.
