I'd say the gememods got serious in chapter 19 when it was revealed Sarah is CJs genetic clone and that every single gene in his body was edited (likely by his dad's lancing).

idk I think I formed a habit of not pressing spacebar rapidly as it used to bring up the stickey key menu

felt that this game has somehow a ton of clicking to be done before u encounter the very first game choice.

If you're reading the text the spacebar shouldn't be fast enough to cause sticky keys (which can be disabled btw).
And if you're trying to skip through then holding the skip key doesn't require pressing.
The first free roam is pretty early on though?
You can use enter or numpad enter - they do same thing as click/spacebar/single touch. Or you can rebind advance to almost any key in settings menu. You can also use Auto toggle key and not click at all. If you need to skip you can either hold Ctrl or use skip toggle key. You can rebind both auto and skip toggle keys (defaults are A and S). You don't even need to click menu options - you can use 1-6 / Shift 1-6 for dialogue menus and 1-9 in town menu (or also rebind them to w/e key you want).

For those people who want to click next, the AUTO feature was fixed very early on in the code updates for OoT. You should be able to set it to a certain time and it will continue to transition through text for you. The only times it will not if there is a cinematic image transition or pause at that moment in the conversation or a multi-choice conversation/branching/free-roam section

My reaction to that was "OK, so, the magic lance did genemods. Weird, but sure." The ch39 reveal is kind of a "oh my frigging god maybe absolutely everything we've believed about the grand divine plot is bullshit".

Maybe, but I doubt it. The story is pretty well thought-out. The current theory is that the "Chad Thundercock Sr" meme guy was how the old Sun God ("Old Glory" ) presented himself because that is what would work when talking to a not-very-bright 14yo kid. But the "marketable genemods" thing suggests that CJ was actually created by someone with a monetary interest, not some magic divine superpower angle. Either way he's a construct of some sort, we knew that, but the "who and why" part just became more interesting because neither explanation makes sense given what we currently know about the other. There are some big, big reveals coming.

Does it? I thought it was relayed to us in no uncertain terms that this level of modifications is beyond mortal means. Clearly, everything that is happening, including whatever schemes goddesses are trying to pull, is a part of a Grander Plan that is upcoming Conjunction (i think that's the word used). I guess CJ is supposed to give a birth to a new breed of superior humans.

"marketable genemods" is how someone who works in that industry is likely to look at what's going on here but that doesn't necessarily mean there isn't another dimension to the whole thing
The question for me is, why would his god dad need to mod him after his birth/creation?
