WTF you talking about? The male MC is the primary protagonist. Sure, other female characters have major contributions, but he is still the main protagonist. Not sure where you are getting that the female protagonist is driving the story.
I tried to put a little hint for much you had to heal her in her Health Bar. While you don't get a straight up number you have to hit, but her Health Bar goes up every time you heal her and you "win" when it's full.
Yeah, I got it eventually. Just a minor suggestion, many games that have "mini games" like this offer an option to skip the mini game (essentially winning it automatically). I would certainly suggest it in this case, as I spent a good deal of time trying to figure it out and ended up stepping away from the game out of frustration. I would figure that Patrick Mahomes felt the same way during Superbowl LV.
Understandable, but It's not really a mini-game, more like a tutorial for what's to come. The game is going to be an actual RPG with multiple party members, combat encounters and the other usual aspects.

Why renpy as an engine then? As much as I hate rpg maker for my porn games, it seems more suitable for something like that. Hell if you spend time with unity or unreal to set it for a turn based system rpg/vn game, it should be smooth sailing along with the fact that you can have fully animated models all the time and cross platform support etc etc...
during my brief foray into the code I did notice some pyGame stuff, so I think the RPG stuff is being done in that

As much as I would love to make a full unity/unreal version, that would require a lot more money to get the animations/models/map assets right than I have at the moment.
Maybe if I ever get HH-tier patreon money Hah, yeah right.
Exporting their koi models to another Unity game is completely feasible, it's just that I would likely need to bring on another few devs to do animations and other parts of the game which would require a budget greater than the shoe-string I'm working with now.
