I imagine its so easy to develop in the worst engine imaginable, even I could develop using it, except I hate it for a multitude of reasons, so it amazes me that despite the fact it's nothing more than a pure pos, it's still being used. If this game is meant to be a proper game, then why aren't you using a proper gaming engine? Yeah I get you'd have to pay for it, but that's par for the course for any gaming devs who make main stream games, even the poor ones, who have to start somewhere.
I am not much of a gamer, more of a reader, hence why I prefer simple renpy games. I want to play this game, but since it's in unity I won't bother, nothing against your game, but everything against the engine your using. I wish you much luck with your game!

Bitch, this game's VN part is nearly indistinguishable from Ren'py except it runs faster. If you saw some shitty unity VNs doesn't mean all of them are. Have you even tried it? Unity gives a lot more freedom than Ren'py, it just doesn't provide tools for VNs out of the box, you have to implement them yourself - it's possible to make VN player better than ren'py in unity.

Unity gives a lot more freedom than Ren'py, it just doesn't provide tools for VNs out of the box, you have to implement them yourself - it's possible to make VN player better than ren'py in unity.

To me Unity is significantly more clunky than Renpy - yes this game is better than many other unity games but I prefer renpy a lot more. After the combat system is put in place Unity will probably be the better choice since it is an actual game engine as compared to renpy which is designed for VNs. But right now for the VN only mode I still prefer renpy.

Of course this is from the perspective of a player - as a developer unity might be easier to make the game in - I would not know.

No you are right it was my mistake - after looking at the settings, features I thought were missing are actually present. The experience now is about the same as renpy.

I wish other unity games I played were like this and had stuff like rollbacks using the scroll wheel, the ability to skip transitions etc.

Because these features are not trivial to implement (specifically rollback). Ren'py is barely an engine but it contains all of it out of the box, in unity you can implement it better but it requires programming experience and a lot of work.

Yeah even provided a save game for unity at where the renpy version left off. Can't ask for better
