Like I said, the break was intentional. If you go through the history on their Patreon, you'll see that they really only post when there's an update. They also aren't in the habit of posting non-game related things. The last was on the itchio shadowban situation in July, and before that it was an April Fool's joke and an updated roadmap in mid-March.

This is a "no news is good news" type situation. If you want deeper info, try joining the Discord and scrolling through the chatlogs from mid-November to now. That would be the best way to find out more info and not come across as an insensitive tourist to the people that knew iwassnow.

It's a simple question, nobody's bothering anyone, and if joining Discord was an option, I would do just that. I'm aware of dev's communication habits, but I'm also aware that current situation isn't exactly normal, is it. Would you, please, be so kind as to reduce the level of passive aggression and veiled accusations in the future and just answer the question, or ignore it altogether, whichever is more convenient?

If you're judging my Patreon posts only, that's not really a long time to go between devlogs/updates (especially not long enough to start throwing terms around like "radio silence"). I'm sorry you're having trouble accessing the public discord server, but based on what I've seen in that server, I can tell you that the lead developer has been very communicative about his progress, and that things seem to be business-as-usual. The next update has been delayed to January, but this probably has more to do with the size of the update than anything else. The lead developer has not indicated that the death of the lead programmer is a cause of the delay.

The programmer took their own life unfortunately. We don't know if StoryAnon will continue after that.

Lots of misinformed but well meaning replies in here. Im not the end all be all source either, but this is what I know from the Patreon page.

First off, the post informing us of iwassnow's passing states he was the first programmer. Not the only programmer. While this does complicate things, devs come and go over the years (though usually not in as extreme circumstances). I dont think this should majorly affect the project as far as the story is concerned. I dont know how much he did, but Id expect things like the combat or h-animations to be the most stunted parts. And those were only getting infrequent updates as of now, as the focus was completing the story first.

While that is the case for last year, its not so for this year. Ever since January 2025, the plan has always been for 58 to be the final and only chapter for the end of the year. However, the beginning of last year was also tumultuous, and the timetable got rearranged in March. The first image was the original schedule, and the second was the revised schedule.





Going by how the chapters were being released at the end of the month, it is currently late by one day. Im not that surprised because the holidays are fucking crazy to get anything done. I wouldnt be surprised if we dont see anything official until the middle of this month.

But! I am not in the Discord. This is all just publicly available info I have from the Patreon page. If someone else knows more than me, feel free to correct the record.

Due to the flooding a few days ago, I lost power and had to sit around not working for a while.
Everything is fine now, but I think this is a sign from above that I should take a break and not rush things.
I have to drive home for Christmas and New Years, so rather than cut corners I'm just going to officially move the release date for ch58 to January.

You'll likely still see some WiPs in December and progress has been going great otherwise, but with how important this chapter is I think it warrants a few more weeks.

Everything is going well, not need to fear abandonment or anything similar.

I tend to agree with the "A delayed game is eventually good, a rushed one is bad forever" school of thought. Not every dev deserves the same leniency, but StoryAnon has been so solid for so many years they've earned goodwill and grace. Consistently churning out updates as high quality as they have been is no easy feat. I feel its a safe bet to assume the same pattern will continue.

because i feels like i take a special kind of drug while playing this game, i still at Ch 1 when CJ back at Japan, but what was that all of the prologue? istg it's like i take amphetamines & cocaine while having fever dream.
so anyone who invested in this game, tell me it is good run or not worth it?

i read the warning in the beginning that this was indeed will be very long run, i played Lesson of Love also which is very long one also + poet based, and i love that one.
but i don't know about this one, the prologue make me confused af, no explanation of what was that event about am i gonna expect except prolonged drug abuse.
not telling the game is bad, but you know, first impression is always the most mattered to me to make me continue or not, and for now already scrapped low, that ol Chad meme throw me off guard thou,
might need spoiler what am i gonna get or expect or make me excited and click to explore more myself except what the dev write in description.

This is the kind of game you do need to play a decent bit before you decide to continue or not IMO.

The humour and the random god stuff at the start killed it for me on my first try, so I decided it wasn't for me and dropped it for a while. But I picked it back up again eventually, and forced myself to play the first 10-13 chapters this time before deciding. And I'm glad I did. The game is a banger. So much so that it's now made into my top 10 AVN list.

Stick with it and let it cook for a while. See if it does something similar for you maybe.
