Hey all, TD here.
We're in the closing stretch. Currently Ch4Up5 sits at 3,519 images, 76 animations, and 65,218 words.
That spells out to a total of 282 statics images, 2 animations, and 6,125 words over the last two weeks.
GIL has been busy.
Right now we just have about short to shortish labels remaining: a talk between Hana and Mina, some side fun that will round out the animation count (which are already done btw), and the closing finish that will see Edwin potentially start to grow past a peculiar character flaw.
To be honest, I was worried this update might feel lacking in a sense; there's a lot of non-heroine related events, side content, and just overall missable scenes. However, after finally seeing the threads from Thursday all get tied together thematically with Friday's climax, I'm feeling good about it. This ended up being a deceptively important update for positioning characters where they need to be going into the final week of the story.
I'm hesitant to say we'll make it inside of December. We'll likely be done with the remaining scenes inside of a week (and a half at most), but with Christmas around the corner, it's difficult to anticipate how much that will slow our polishing and proofing phase. We really want to put out two updates this year, but that is a mental hang up. At the end the day, we're ultimately talking about a week's difference in release schedule. So I'm going to say expect an early January release and leave room to be pleasantly surprised by a late December one.
With that, I'll end this here. Thank you for all that you bring to our project, both financially and through your enjoyment. I know I say it every week, but it's a worth while affirmation: we simply wouldn't be doing what we love without you.

Woohooo, numbers are the best early Christmas present! TD and GIL have averaged around 141 static images, 1 animation, and 3063 words per week since the last dev diary. That works out to an overall average of 99 statics, 2.1 animations, and 1840 words per week since work on Chapter 4 Update 5 began. Here are the charts for Week 35:

An interesting growth spurt in words rather than animations as we start wrapping things up for the penultimate installment of the chapter. It sounds like we're nearly done with the main work of the chapter, but I think TD is right to expect delays given how many branches there will be for bugs to hide in. As he says the difference ultimately boils down to a week or two. We can be patient a touch longer if necessary - though I'll admit it's going to be hard: plot development and character scenes are usually my weak spot!

I'm guessing January 11th as the most likely release date (based on previous releases). The 4th if everything goes very well for TD and Gil.

December 28th is a very short date considering the testing phase, but if we're lucky... who knows?

Sounds logical, but I hope for a late December release, since I have holidays then and after Three Kings day we often get swamped at work for a couple weeks. So getting the new update before that would be great.

I guess the beginning already happened - Hana and Mina had 2 scenes together (without Edwin) and it looks like they hit it off

Decided to try the compressed version unmodded. Still got an error at the same spot, but the traceback log is different. It also says memory error, so I opened up task manager while it was going, but my memory usage never even hit 60%. Then game crashes when this happens so it's nothing I can skip past.

Memory errors in Ren'Py games are fixed by changing the renderer to OpenGL (Shift + G).

Just tried and that fixes the crashing issue, but it causes a different problem. There is now a screen flickering problem. Been dealing with that for a long time which is why I always switch to angle/direct x renderer.

You can switch back to Angle/DirectX after animation with Veronica.
