Dev Diary 101

I am happy to announce the production side of things, both the writing and visual, has concluded as of today. All told Ch4Up6 will contain 2,745 statics, 97 animations, and 55,511 words.

Honestly, I'm kinda glad we decided to wrap it when we did. We have been slowing down over the past month and a half and our fatigue would have ate into the exhibition proper. My only regret is that some of the things I intended to pay off across a single update will take two, but that's not worth the expense of inevitably cutting corners on the big event.

That said, this update isn't half-sized. There is basically two parallel paths for every scene leading up to Edwin getting to the exhibition, the sandbox comes in three stages and can conclude in like 5 different ways, the big capstone scene has three endings of its own. Then everything ends on a pretty juicy and dramatic note, setting the stage to swiftly finish the next update.

There's some (h)scenes with a new character, Hana, Mina, Sophia, Lucy, and well... various house girls. Plus for the people who decided to watch Vicky's tape at the end of the last update, you'll get some fun there too. We want get the next part out within four months of us starting the next cycle. That will have the exhibition proper, plus a couple intimate pay offs for other girls. I'm hoping that announcing that goal will keep things contained. That's always the problem; we would like to release more frequently, and have been saying that for years, but our renewed vigor at the start of the update always leads me to pack more than what is maybe necessary into the early scenes. A by product of feeling like we have all the time in the world, which in a sense I suppose we do. It's not like anyone is rushing us and your support hasn't waivered, but it'd be pretty cool to find a balance that we're happy with.

Anyway, exact release dates will be forthcoming. I'm getting rolling on my pass of the game: where I double check variables, put my stamp on the text, and get things like the scene replay triggers set up. GIL will polish some animations over the time and we'll then get it to our proofreaders. Given that we like to release on Saturdays, September 27th or October 3rd will be our likely target for our highest tier release, but do wait on our official announcement before making any decisions with your support.

Big news this week, but a shocking paucity of numbers. :p By my calculations TD and GIL have added roughly 100 static renders, 1.7 animations, and 1322 words per week over the 21 days since the last dev diary. Overall, they're currently averaging 79 statics, 2.8 animations, and 1593 words per week since work on Chapter 4 Update 6 began. Here are the charts for Week 35:

The overall numbers will come down slightly with the time it takes to debug and release the update, but they are likely fairly close to the final tallies for the update. Personally, I'd say these metric show this update to be fairly median in terms of productivity: a little on the lower side for animations and statics, but relatively high for Words (admittedly, that's a smaller sample set). We'll see if the self-imposed deadline changes anything when it comes to Update 7, but for now I'd say we're getting a reasonable return on the development time.

I do think it will take a concerted effort on TD and GIL's part if they want to hit the four month mark, but if they think that will help keep them motivated I'm happy to try it out. I trust them to admit if it turns out they've bitten off more than they are able to chew. With any luck everything will go swimmingly and and we won't have to debate subdividing the stage show into yet another half! ;)

But that's the future's problem. For now it certainly sounds like the development assets we were tracking have been put to good use! I love branching that flows from character choices, especially if it leads to even more choices down the line, so I'm certainly eager to see what's in store for us in this update and in the next one.

Absolutely! Finally! Naturally very much looking forward to this, more Sophia content. Hope it to be just the beginning!:love:Also the Hana routes, where we will see quite some forking apart of the paths, going by the log.(y)
For the Housegirls I hope for stuff with Andrea and Dalia:), the Lucy part could be nice too, we´ll see. Also interesting TD´s mentioning of the decision "deleting/keeping the Vicki porn collection". Seems like it will also change the future courses we can take, beside the fun stuff from it.
I am curious who this new character will be, do we possibly see a return of Edwin´s old flame?

Hi! Right, it is most probably her, still we also had a flashback to Edwin´s old girlfriend. But definitely Alison is the more likely one.

I was watching one of the memories and noticed the auto forward text does not work. Is there something I'm missing?

edit: nevermind I figured out a way around it. When I load the playback before opening a save it will not auto forward. If I load a save and enable auto forward then open a playback the auto forward works. At least as long as I don't click somewhere and turn it off. haha

I predict this will be one of my favourite updates (top 3 at least) if only because there will be free-roam (and PC devs excel in these) and variety of events and girls to interact with. Any Lucy scene is an instant win in my book, same goes for Sophia (although so far she was acting too "dry", she's more professional during sex scenes than most Pale Carnation's employees, a bit too robotic for my taste so hopefully this will change for an instant at least) and you can't go wrong with Hana or Mina. Add to this some new character (I suspect who that might) and I'm certain I'll love this update.

As for the mysterious character, if she will appear in a retrospection (so it will be a h-scene without Edwin) I can guess who that might be (and I don't mean Victoria) but there is also a possibility that to become a PC member one must bring in a new "product" (Isaac did it, Samson did it, Abel did it too, even though Sophia is so much more than a whore) so by that logic Elias might have done it.

Finally finished my first playthrough and got to say, was very impressed. Very quality story from the usual boom boom VNs we get here. Characters with depth, drama, protagonist struggles etc. Looks like I finished at the perfect time also with an update coming soon. I too am looking forward to more Sophia scenes...especially after the brutal takedown Edwin did on her.

Characters with depth, drama, protagonist struggles etc. Looks like I finished at the perfect time also with an update coming soon. I too am looking forward to more Sophia scenes...especially after the brutal takedown Edwin did on her.
