What's the problem in playing Pale Carnations while checking Mr Bubu's pdf walkthrough when we're having next update in 8-9 months?

Nothing, but he needs a couple days to update. URM works immediately. You can just use it to check effects of choices, no need to change any variables. I basicallly used it as a stand-in for the pdf-walkthrough

well if you enjoy torturing yourself with pointless minigames that's up to you. I'd rather not. I would switch them off, but then again DPC had to go be an asshole and make sure some like the mansion game has an impact on the story. So mod it is.

As for using a written walkthrough, it's almost literally the same thing as a mod so what are you on about? You get the same benefits.

Isn't that just a poorly designed game though? I get that everyone plays a game for a different reason and with different restrictions but if the bulk of the player base sees a minigame as tedious...

I personally like the 'discovery' aspect of a game but clear cut decisions with relatively predictable consequences helps with that (hurrah clear game design!) and I'll just use a walkthrough afterwards if I want to hunt the other paths in a time efficient manner. URM sounds more technical and involved than a pdf file I might be using only a few times. I don't even know what URM stands for... is it Universal Renpy Mod? It sounds like it has a slight learning curve as well compared to... a pdf walkthrough

I honestly don't know what's the point of them in that game, they are fucking annoying more than anything. Sure don't help with the immersion.

Yes it's universal renpy mod, but it's very easy to use, I don't start a game without it. Majority of games outside of the more popular ones don't have pdfs or mods made for them.

Every chapter is a week.

Prologue is chapter 1
Week 1 is chapter 2
Week 2 is chapter 3
Week 3 is chapter 4

Since week 3 hasn't reached saturday yet, well... next update won't be ch.5 part 1 for sure.

Is it normal that my saves got fucked?

I’ve had no issues with saves unmodded and I have been playing updates since chapter 2.

Are you running mods or one of your windows folders with the saves get put into read only mode?

If you absolutely do want to use a mod though, then use the Universal Renpy Mod URM. Works on almost all renpy games, PC included. No updates necessary

Now my question is: why a mod? why do you think you need it?

If you want to understand how the game works under the hood but don't want to (or lack the skills to) review the code directly, URM is a very handy tool that doesn't depend on MrBubu's backlog. Every now and then it can help work around bugs in the game, too.

I'm a fan or URM, but I've found it unusually buggy with Pale Carnations. It works well enough passively, but trying to monitor variables or even open up the main console tents to crash the game.

I have stopped using URM since a couple of games I like to play had hiccups when you use it not only passively as a seim-walkthrough. In ORS for example, trying to change a variable leads to all(!) decisions being on rapid timer and you cannot stop this. You have to install anew to get rid of it. Unlocking and using the game console without URM does not lead to this.

This is a new development with URM, in older games it worked really well, but the number of newer games with problems is rising.

If you mean "for fun" then yes, it will be possible going by the developments so far. If you mean as a fixed relationship, then no. There will come a time where you have to choose your special sweetheart. You can still be friends with others, but you have to choose one of the girls as your special LI.

Well F me. Don't know how I did it but I fucked up my saves. Works fine with the old one but when I attempted to copy the saves into the new one I just keep getting errors.

Mostly just been spending my time on and off since I got it on the third slowly getting back to where I had left off.

Well, she's a very interesting character exactly because of that reason, so far in the story at no point has she been portrayed to the player as someone who will really suffer if she doesn't end up winning the exhibition, yes, she might really want to win in the end, but it's hard to even consider she deserves it more than Rosie or Veronica, the story is probably about to do a 180 on that and put her the same position as the other 2, very likely her whole marriage will go to the dumpster and if she doesn't win the exhibitions she'll be just as screwed as the other Carnations.

I do think that all of that will end up leading to an ending where she can be proud of herself, and not just a trophy wife.

I'm curious on what the "second option" for her will be tho, as we've already been given hints to Edwin being able to help Veronica's gym situation even if she doesn't win, and I'm guessing we'll be able to do the same for the other Carnations too, no idea on how that'll work for Felicia, but it's probably too early to tell anyway.

I really can't see how a positive solution is possible for Veronica, at the moment.

As many us noticed and wrote, this is a dark themed story told in a light tone.

So, why should we presume that we're having happy endings for everybody?

I think we should realise that Edwin, Ian and Hana have no leverage nor power to really help anyone in any way.

And I really can't see how Edwin might be able to help Veronica, and the only thing he has done for her is buying her drinks and fuck her, so far.
