Hello fine people, TD here.

Currently, Ch4Up6 sits at a total of 457 static images, 18 animations, and 11,571 words.

That comes out to 214 images, 0 animations, and 4,691 words since our last diary two weeks ago.

Pretty good progress all things considering GIL had quite a few technical issues to overcome these last couple of weeks. There was complications with his new graphic card, issues with a faulty water heater triggering his breaker, a friend going through a personal crisis, and HoneySelect being a capricious bitch that caught aids. No, I'm not going to explain that last part. I barely understand it myself.

Anyway, all things that can fuck up your groove creatively, but GIL stands on business. I'm always grateful that he's in charge of the hard part of the project.

Other than that, things got a bit changed around around since the last diary. We finished the two important scenes that I mentioned, but a couple more cropped up before we can properly move into Carnation Club business. These were character points I planned on hitting later in the update, but decided on utilizing earlier to better support Edwin's character in the aftermath of a particular revelation, as well as giving him something to draw on during the madness of exhibition 3.

So with that in mind, right now we're working on quite the nice Hana scene. This is an optional one for HanaGF havers: it starts early, and will be a throughline all the way to the end to the closing moments of the update. Players who have been loyal to Hana (or have been happily two timing her) will finally have something to chew on.

After that, we've got a similarly important Mina scene for those who favors quadtails over twintails, predicated on Edwin making a statement toward her during last update’s rock show. Mina is among the characters who needs advancement the most in my opinion. Hell, GIL considers her my redheaded stepchild, despite my protests that I do adore her.

The thing is: she’s got a lot of variability to juggle, and while last update did a nice enough job positioning her in the variety of ways that I need her, she’s always been lacking in the “girlfriend experience.” She’s the only heroine that didn’t get a major date in week 3, and I feel she’s fallen behind in the pursuit of letting other characters take a stab at her. So look forward to a little course correcting with that, Mina enjoyers.

I will stop my rambling now.

Just played the newest Version, and so far, the Hana-Girlfriend-Route is completely pointless. There is just one difference to the fuck buddies Route... the MC has some thoughts about cheating on her here an there, and they call each other Boyfriend/Girlfriend, thats it. There has to be way more to be motivated to go down that route. So far its an easy choice to stay fuck buddies and go for Mina too (and others). At the end of this update there is the first and more or less only huge difference for the girlfriend route, cause if you cheat with Mina, she will know so now that there is more between Hana and MC and this will lead to consequences i guess in the next update. So far its easy to play a "all-girl" playthrough just staying fuck buddies with Hana and get them all.... Branching is a difficult thing, but this game will not work without serious branching anymore.

Overall the last update was not what i expected. I thaught we will get the next Carnation-Challenge, but that wasnt the case. The focus was on the other Plots... Killian-Grace-Vicky, Darius, Vickys Porn Background and so on...

And its obvious that ... hm... lets say within the next 2 updates, Mina will learn about the Club. Its not really hideable anymore, she is already aware that something is "off". Rosies tounge already slipped, and with her romantic interest in MC and/or Hana its not avoidable at some point that she has to know those things... that point will be reached within the next 2 updates i think. But i hope that she will not be a part of the club in any way... the whole "journey about sex" thing should be without involving club activities. She is still kinda a innocent girl with a very very horny slut inside of her, but being involved in the club is something i dont want to see with her. She should know about it, and maybe accept it for Hanas and MCs sake, but not getting involved... well, we will see.

Though even if the update was not what i expected, it was a good one. (no surpise here, this game is way beyond 5 star). For future updates i whish a little more "romance" involved... there is already enough hard fucking all around, "lovemaking" is a little bit short, especially with Hana as real Girlfriend... yeah i like it a little mushy and cheesy :) And i want to see Hana and the MC all lovey dovey.

Does the gf route seem less important at the moment because we have to wait for updates before knowing what the consequences will be? I'm guessing that route will feel more fleshed out once the game is complete and we don't need to wait months for updates that don't touch on it.

There is always the possibility that at some point there will be a choice whether she will be involved. (Or, more deviously, it could be determined by any number of previous choices.) Branching does not get much more serious than that.

IMHO, yes, she is overplaying her hand with her latest schemes, but we have to remember something else. Kath has been ruining lives and enjoying her sadism far longer than the Club exists. The Club makes it easier for her to get her "fix". She has been near untouchable due to her husband being a judge (it seems Kath loves him as much as a sadist of her calibre is capable) and her hiding behind charities. I am sure she was more careful in earlier years and the success of the Carnation games made her overconfident.

Yes, but remember that Abel and Sophia have their own plans for the Club, the "testing" of their new sex drug is simply a ruse. They do not need the club at all for that. The two doctors are planning a hostile takeover of PC. And it is ironic that Abel twice warned Kath in a convoluted way, if she really wanted to start her play for more influence in the Club.

Sheesh you step out of town for a few days and TD goes and releases a Dev Diary. :cry: Alas, but while disappointment fades, numbers endure!

TD and GIL have managed to create roughly 107 static images, 0.0 animations, and 2346 words per week over the 14 days between the February 9 and February 23 diaries. Overall, that puts them at a pace of 78 statics, 3.1 animations, and 1976 words per week since work on Chapter 4 Update 6 officially began. Here are the charts for Week 6:

We're still early in the process so there's not a lot to note beyond the steady progress; no doubt you were all waiting on tenterhooks for my analysis on that one!

No, the big news is still in the future. I'm intrigued to hear about the new pre-Exhibition dates. They seem like good ideas on paper, and I'm sure they'll be fun to play. Plus it's not like I'm in any hurry to get back to Club, so I say bring on the dates! But it does seem like this change might also make it more likely the update will be cut in two and released separately, since there will now (likely) be significant content before we get to the main event. That could be a good or a bad thing depending on the content, pacing and execution. Now for this game the execution is nearly always excellent, but we won't know much about the other two until we see the end result. So this isn't a cause for alarm, more like something to ponder as development proceeds. We'll see where it ends up taking us, eventually.

Gotta say that this is a HUGE thing with manga. When you know it's been two years for a plot point and you're waiting week to week, it's a far different experience when you have read everything like a tapestry and go about it without a stopping point.

Take One Piece. Big issue was that the reverie occured in a big arc and that blip had major consequences AFTER that arc was finished. It took about two years for people to remember because so much occurred IN the arc. Then people have to remember everything afterwards and what's the big details of the current arc.

Heck, I'm going to be two updates behind again soon and I barely remembered everything I unlocked. I'm not bitter or anything. I just gotta get started, look at all my saves and remember what's where and when. Nothing personal...

My humble advice is: replay the whole game from the start everytime a new update comes out. First, play new update, then restart the whole story.

We've got to wait for 8-10 months every update, after all.
