This game was the latest thing I yoinked out of my back-log.
Now, unless the dev has some other games hidden somewhere, this was their 1st game evah. (I was too lazy to check with VPN, and even if I did, there's no guarantee they don't have something on DMM or some-such...) Either way, it definitely feels like a dev's 1st game for a number of reasons.
Paradise Angel is a very basic game. It barely has any world-building, and what little there is, exists to enable smut. There's almost no story whatsoever and what is there is pretty nonsensical. There's literally just three characters in the whole game with actual names (those being Elu, Clea and the barmaid who's name I keep forgetting). The gameplay is extremely basic and simplistic. It has a grand total of 27 H-scenes, of which 4 are endings. Don't be fooled by the 28 entries in the gallery, because one is a Non-H ending. It also doesn't try to make much sense whatsoever.
Basically, the only reason to pick up this game is for the smut. That's it. There's pretty much nothing else here.
As is usually the case, the worth of the smut will vary based on what people like. The vast majority of the scenes are of Elu being raped and pretty much always starting to like the rape and cumming her brains out as a result. There's 2 rape scenes for each dungeon (1 for the most common mob there and 1 for the boss), for a total of 10 H-scenes with that stuff. There's 5 rape scenes for accumulating losses (for SOME reason) that caps out at 10 losses and also has a cap based on the number of completed dungeons. There's 3 scenes for each of the side girls, in one case for failing quests and the other for buying items at the dark merchant. There's 1 random H-scene with all 3 girls for buying one random specific item...
Then there's the endings with H, of which two are particularly weird. One ending for beating the final boss with over 60 Accumulated Depravity, 1 for giving up after a certain defeat rape, one very random one for passing 30 days and another fairly random one for being defeated more than 20 times.
The nature of the scenes is... somewhat all over the place. For example, 4 of the boss defeats feature some major stomach bulging. Several of the "generic monster" defeats feature bruises and scratches and mention pain (before it becomes pleasure). There's at least one scene where Elu ends up pissing on her own face because of the position she's in. There's surprisingly little anal in the game though, weirdly enough. Either way, you can't call the game vanilla, but you can't call it hardcore or anything either. It's in a weird sort of space where the H-content doesn't really satisfy anyone with specific tastes, though it's perfectly serviceable for weirdoes like me with broad tastes.
The main issue with the H-content is how the unlocks work tbh, because a number of them are inconvenient to manage. Particularly Clea's scenes which require failing quests. Luckily, the game does give you an item that lets you manipulate various stats and numbers once you hit any ending, and that item pops up in all saves or new games. So you can even hit a save right before the final boss, go back to town, get the item from the fairy near the church and then use it to simplify some things.
However... bosses don't respawn, so if you killed them all... tough luck, you have to play the game again to get those scenes. Likewise, Clea's scenes are tied to reporting to her after a failed quest. So even if you manipulate the number of failed quests, it's pointless if you don't have any more quests to fail. It wasn't a huge problem for me, but I have the habit of making saves at various points as back-ups and whatnot, but someone going on a single save might end up with some head-aches.
About the weirdest thing about the game is the fact that there's several points where they could have had full H-scenes... but instead they just have some text and cut-ins. It's like the dev was too lazy to properly turn those scenes into H-scenes. Dunno why. Sure, they'd have been inconvenient to collect... but it's not like the game is lacking in that department anyway... >.>"
Oh, also worth noting is that the outfits, aside from the base one, do not feature in any H-scenes in any way, shape or form. So if you can't collect all of them or can't be assed to bother... it doesn't matter, because they don't show up in the smut anyway.
Still, all in all, the game is not bad. It's a simple, silly time-waster with decent smut to it. Not the worst way to spend some hours, and not the worst thing to throw money at if you like the art.
