The problem is, that doesn't work for me.
I tried searching worldchars when I first downloaded it. Same results as I'm getting here.
Also tried searching mc, bunch of results I wouldn't change.
Then tried searching for the stats directly. More variables I wouldn't change.
According to saveeditonline, the files for Parasite Black are protected from tampering, requiring file modifications to be changed. Maybe that's the issue? Also, there are multiple instances of the line in need of replacing, so you need to replace all of them as shown in the image.

you are in the right place. under value were it says dict (58 items) within the same line as worldchars click on the dict and you will get the same screen as the first screenshot then all you do is go through the list until you find ["mc"] and on the same line under value it will say <class 'store.TemplatedObj'> click on that and you will get the second screenshot. then on the same line as props it will have under value dict(48 items) and you click on that and you will be able to edit mc's values screenshot 3 take note that for me it opens on page 2 so strength and endurance are on page 1 for me.

that only applies to editing the save files. using URM i had no issues with changing the values. one thing i did notice is that they only affected my human form if i turned into the parisite i had to lvl him up seperate witch may just fall under mc_transf, i have not tried that out.

It's not, that only stops you from save editing them without a repackaging using the security keys.
That's taken care of with .

Ah, thought dict meant something else entirely.
Edit: Much better. :KEK:

Hey guys,
First thing I want to stress, is the steam release will still be on December 9th this year, however, due to circumstances out of control, the steam release will only feature Mika’s content as well as a few additional Elena/Myu scenes, it will NOT feature the end of Act 1.

Unfortunately, one of our artists is currently MIA, and has been for an unusual length of time despite numerous attempts to contact them. Obviously, we have had to adjust the schedule due to this, as, we have to give the artist a fair amount of time to hopefully return before we feel we’re forced to look for a replacement, meaning some work is left at a standstill until then and even if he returned now, it’s unlikely for it all to be finished given the time lost.

As such, there’s been a change of plan. After the steam launch, the next update we plan to introduce not just the end of act 1, but the start of act 2 and the next major city to explore, as well as, wrapping up any missing stuff from act 1 and ensuring saves are then compatible between builds.

We hope you’re still excited for the end of Act 1 in the meanwhile, we’re working hard on polishing and ensuring it’s the highest quality we can, and I feel Mika’s content should hopefully tug on a few heartstrings!

On the bright side, we’re in a much more confident place with combat having tested and balanced it, and we feel we’ve bought up the game’s quality with a lot of QOL improvements.

We hope to see you guys on the release!
Remember, there’s still time to wishlist Parasite Black on steam at:

As always,
Thank you all so much for your support!
You guys are awesome!
Love,

this game badly needs an easy mode or an auto win feature because i cannot keep reloading my save from the second fort battle any more than i have. I used the potions, i used the weaken and double strike, i use everything and no matter what i do i am always down to one enemy full health and my character with almost none, everyone else dead and no more potions. I love the premise and before this last update i was able to progress through the whole story. Im not trying to sit here for an hour trying to win some pointless prologue battle

I dunno bout you guys but I am impressed by the progress of this game from the humble beginning of the edgy dark age art to the current more comic life like art, to the retuning of the combat from simply swiping to now of managing your skills and points, to the interaction and story. Can't wait for the final steam release hope the update will be substantial

Well, there's already an auto-win feature with the cheat codes.

As for easy mode, as of the steam release...

The refusal to do save compatibility is the biggest blocker for me. Killing saves is a major gamedev sin, and not one to be taken lightly. Making a policy of doing it every point release... yikes. quickstart isn't good enough a replacement, it misses stuff. You have to cheat in too many stats/items each time. I just gave up and bounced off every release after a while without getting all the actual new parts because I was tired of rehashing the same song and dance.

I'm not sold on the changed artstyle yet, comparing the changes version to version. It's cleaner but more generic. The harsher look of the original meshed well with the story of a violent, dangerous world. Maybe once it's all converted over it will be less jarring, but I'm still used to everyone's original looks.

I'll probably pick this up once they hit whatever point where they really commit to save compatibility. If there's no work towards implementing a system for importing old saves now, it's not going to magically be there in 2 weeks once the steam release happens. There's no way to avoid changes that may break old saves in something as complex as this, the time to think about how to do it isn't once people already bought it.

It's not a 'refusal' to do save compatibility, lmao. Of course, we want save compatibility working asap.

You make significant engine changes, old saves die. No tech wizard in the world is stopping that.

After the steam release, with now most of the technical engine changes done/features, and the very last of it to be done after steam. We will have save compatability working.

Balancing in combat is in with the steam release, as is stats and things far more functional. There are discussions currently about the art. I short, we're a lot closer now than ever I feel to getting things how we hope.

This attitude is what worries me, because I've worked on a lot of projects in my dayjob and when "oh just wipe and restart because we changed what this function does" ends up being massive technical debt to sort out later, and the more it piles up the more fixing it gets put off.

Renpy breaks saves on any variable change. even a typo fix is "significant" enough to throw an undefined error. To do save compatibility, you have to make a converter for each version to the next. Whatever change you made in the code, a line in there has to try to fix the old save to the new.

It's not the kind of system you can throw together overnight, like anything else it has to be tested and refined. That you're launching in two weeks and haven't even started it is why I'm so concerned.

We've been spending months untangling the code, adding features, balancing, and fixing things piece by piece, this has meant saves were broken in the meanwhile between builds, but we did it that way, so people could see progress as we go. 0.157 is an old build by this point I'll add, it's been out for literal months so there's been significant change since it.

Now, POST the steam launch, we're gonna go away for a few months and then focus on save compatibility, new content, whatever else we need. I'm not promising save compatibility in the next 2 weeks, I'm aiming for it AFTER this steam launch. I hope that clears some concerns up.
