What you saw with Shyahtan and the invasion of the Merlanians is what happens when that infiltration fails. Shyahtan was very much the hammer to bring resistant worlds to kneel.

You cannot skin any animals in the desert yet. Try checking the woodlands near either of the lakes instead.

You shouldn't be able to encounter the jackal in the forest. Either your game is bugged or you aren't actually in the forest map.

It relies on RNG but visit the animal spots on the way to the lake. You just have to be patient sometimes. Go back and forth to the spot or even leave the map-return to the city and then go back. It's random but you'll find wolves and bears.

How can you cheat character attributes and skill points?

You can use URRM to edit stats, search for "worldchars" then "mc" and either add attribute points or edit the skill value. Here's what it looks like.

There shouldn't be any issues loading save files from version 0.170.
Can you provide further details on the issue you are having?
