Is it me or does this game like not progress at all and is broken? I just start get the 2 werms of the start then there is no text or anything and continuing just lets me fuse them to a canal parasite and do nothing with it im very confused by this.

Oh I remember this! It started off strong with a decent concept then hit typical development hell as the creator kept switching concepts and going back to redo parts only to scrap what was redone in another update and then attempting to redo it again. Hopefully they can focus this time and maintain a clear sense of what the scope of the game and content is. The content (mind control, corruption, body tf stuff) is all right up my alley so here's hoping.

It's biggest problem is that quality art needs iteration as much as AI art does, however our brains don't struggle with memory or consistency as much as the current models do. And by struggle I mean sorely lack. Humans like familiarity, so AI characters being inconsistent across different iterations is a very major turn-off, and physical computing limits means you either sacrifice iteration or consistency across large output batches.
There are ways to maximise consistency while also keeping iteration, but actually people like defects in their art, and if you repeat the same mistakes all the time you get what's called an art style. Since AI models are probabilistic, defects are distributed waaaay more, so you can't ever adjust your taste and mindset accordingly. That's why it's called soulless, because it's errors can be nicely calculated and graphed into a bell curve.
Errors can also be more appealing than perfection, kinda like anime girls slowly looking more like cats than any actual living woman, and those kind of mistakes can only be discovered by sheer trial and error, process which generative models obstruct any analysis because of the sheer abstraction of their mathematics calculations.
