Well now I definitely won't support the game because I don't have home internet and my phone internet is not good. So I can't use a code that requires internet for it to work.

Is this going the way of live subscription service or will you be able to sub for a month and have the version unlocked. I swear if another nsfw game goes to monthly subs...

Parasite Inside 0.4.0 Announcement + Changelog

Hello everyone,
I was debating whether to publish a classic Dev Report today, but I think it makes much more sense to focus entirely on Update 0.4.0 and walk you through the full list of changes.
In a way, this is a Dev Report — just a much clearer one. This should help you decide whether you want to become a paid supporter for this update or not.
Release Dates
• 06.12.2025 — Early Access tiers ($10, $15, $25, $50)
• 16.12.2025 — All paid tiers

But they didn't mention a public release. So does that mean there will be no more public release or they just simply didn't mention it? Because if there is no public release then I'm not going to pay to play for reasons I stated above and that would be a shame because I liked the game.

Was it that bad?
Flex tape can't fix those leak.
I think here it took at least several days before the latest release dropped.
But reportedly other sites had it up within 24hrs.

If anything, I think he was annoyed by the speed of the leaks more than the leaks itself. The cheaper paid tiers were effectively reduced to worthless.

Weren't there other games that did this method and it backfired completely?

It's certainly happened elsewhere, just depends largely on if they have the project to back it up.

Patreon itself is a graveyard of failed projects and oversized ambitions/scope.
Hopefully this is just a short-stop way of delaying leaks till public releases and not a complete lock-out.
More than a few Patreon projects have fallen fowl of developers crashing onto their faces, whilst fisting themselves with their own egos, yet simultaneously raking in tens of thousands a month to go ultimately nowhere... (Breeding Season, anyone?) and/or dribbling out content, whilst taking in again tens of thousands, yet somehow still getting more patreons (Cloud Meadows)... Wait :WaitWhat: Same guys.

Either way. I'm hoping Kodman has a better head for development and is simply trying to protect some of his income.

It almost certainly will still have a public release, at least based off my convos with the dude before. Verification is solely to keep it from getting leaked, couple of asian threads constantly kept leaking the game and verification was something he heavily wanted to avoid until he couldnt anymore.

Yea but so long as Kodman keeps the public release still I doubt the game will get fried from it. He might lose some money from people who cant do the verification process for whatever reason but he'll still save more from it getting leaked instantly.

The rather extreme and glaring flaw with that reasoning is that the vast majority of people who play the leaked versions of games are people who simply won't ever otherwise pay. Just like with the "piracy is bad for sales" argument, the people who download these free versions simply will not pay for it if the leaked versions are made unavailable.

So this whole verification malarky is really just stupid at its very core. This will only serve to do two things:
  1. Make updates come out even more infrequently than they already are.
  2. Frustrate the people who actually do pay, since this will only cause issues for them.
Because really, when it comes down to it, most pirates are just going to play something else instead of this if it becomes unavailable due to some misguided, frankly even moronic verification crap.

Elzee of Tunnel Escape botched up majorly with malicious code that was disguised as DRM that hit supporters' PCs. That's the worst case I know and the game still survived and is being sold without the malicious code on it. Believe Patreon forced him to do so or the entire thing would have been nuked. Other games have DRM and they all survive. Albeit by mid and fat whales like Project Helius' Love Doll. I personally dropped support for Deltazone because of the heavy time focus on DRM and upcoming monthly subscription plan to access any adult content.

These games wont implode unless the devs make it so, some group of people will always goonsupport. Think of it like findom, but the devs are the doms.

Piracy of games and software has been around since the dawn of home computers(BBC Micro, ZX Spectrum etc.) and the problem with Patreon is it allows some developers to milk their members and in turn encourages Piracy, Kodaman at least offers the game on Steam for free once you've pledged at least £25 in total. The problem in adding DRM in unfinished games is that it limits people that want to try the game before buying it and limits the scope of bug testing and discourages people from wanting to try it. At least that's my opinion.
