The display only shows tasks that you have been told or heard about. Hotel has many events that you need to "stumble" across that do not show up. That is the reason why I wrote the walkthrough (even though it is not that helpful if you play on your own). At some point in the future (when I am done with Horizon ) I will go back and do another pass on hotel to make it slightly easier to play.

Back up as in "go back" some steps? You can use the "undo" command to undo the last input(s) but this is limited to a certain number of inputs and counts everything like movements and such. This does reset on save loads.

Yeah, it depends on what ends up in the 'dictionary' for the game, and it's easier than you think to miss a word or words that mean the same thing.
