Everyone's talking about the coding bugs but the game has an identity crisis. The survival mechanics belong in a sandbox game but this ain't no sandbox it's a straightforward "go to x, collect key, go to y" kind of game with the goal of escaping. The survival mechanics just do not really add anything to the game at all.
Survival mechanics fit better into an exploration based type thing where environments are randomly generated and maps don't show the entire environment, only filling in the map after you've explored places. This way exploration for survival becomes an interesting thing.
It would fit better if the player travelled to multiple space stations, and each station had a randomly generated map, populated with different monsters and problems. The player could sleep on their own ship or somewhere on the station while exploring them, solving the problems of the station or exploring what made it fail.
Right now the "you've crashed on a station and need to go through this linear set of quests in order to escape" plot is not really gaining anything at all from these mechanics.
