Ask the Dev using the same Style making 40k a month
their style actually looks somewhat nice..... it is one of those some don't like it but most do vibe, could use a few improvements. where as this.... they sometimes barely resemble human... also summertime saga actually has proper body proportions for its characters (don't confuse proper for realistic) where as this.... is all over the place. the artist has potential but they need anatomy lessons. I would get them to draw human body parts (hands figure drawing etc.) for 3 hours a day for two months, then they would probably be quite good by the end of it.
The next step would be learning more about colour and shading (and the different types of shadows) one thing that annoys me is seeing a great drawing but with absolute shit shadows, like the piece uses form shadows everywhere and not a single cast shadow (the two terms should be self explanatory, but in case they aren't cast = shade from an object. form = gradual shadow because of form. e.g. for a drawing of a cylinder or sphere the form shadow is the shadow on the object, the cast shadow is the shadow on the ground.
Biggest difference, a cast shadow has different strengths of shade, where as the cast shadow is the same amount of shade all over unless intersecting with another type of shadow. also in daylight your body projects multiple cast shadows, hence your shadow having a sort of fading effect, yet in doors you only have one for each light source).
Summertime uses an artstyle, do not confuse artstyle with bad drawing. While there is plenty of improvement the artist can make (which they have done so since they started, cause drawing that much it is inevitable) it is more the artstyle people dislike, not because the art is bad. where as here it is the lack of a distinct artstyle with the combination of what I assume is lack of experience (in drawing humans) that you get what just looks uncanny, however given time the artist could get quite good.
However you can't help someone improve by sugarcoating shit, which is why I have been brutally honest, however they have potential and that potential to be better should be encouraged, instead of using silly comebacks like "ask the dev using the same style making 40k a month" which just comes across as immature and childish, and shows lack of knowledge if you really think they are even close to being the same style, that would be like saying an apply is the same style as a tomato simply because they are round.
Why not give actual feedback or have actual dialogue to why you disagree with someone instead of just throwing around an insult to a game because you don't like it, be critical yes, if they deserve such harshness like slonique then fine however summertime saga has been a good product so far, providing updates completely free to the public, so they are not deserving of such an insult. also it is just under 35k a month not 40, if you are gonna stick to insults at least be factual.
Yes this is a long comment, but before you assume that it is all for you, most of it was me thinking out loud about how the dev could improve, and other topics i went off on to (I do that a lot so no need to feel special
)
