I posted this in a game thread but I'll join the discussion here:

I have never understood this banning of virtual stuff. Sick people will do sick people stuff like rape and child molestation or shoot up a night-club or concert or blow themselves up for $COUNTRY or $DEITY

In real life I would never rape a child or woman or blackmail someone to have sex with an animal.
That is because I am a sane person with morals and I can make a distinction between a game and real life.

And secondly, there is the hypocrisy. Why is incest in a game bad but GTA is OK.
Incest is legal in some countries between consenting adults while murder or car-jacking is illegal everywhere.

what's it matter if the fictional character was underage or if it had incest or rape or bestiality? it's a video game these aren't real people or animals. is the fcc fucking stupid or something?

It's a global thing. In our country, we forgot to include "ability to distinguish fiction from reality" as a prerequisite for becoming member of parliament. You'd think that it would be implied, it's an important position that can't be filled by idiots, but nope.
So when they decided to save children (nothing againsts that), we ended up with law where child is anyone under 18 (ok, that's pretty standard), but it doesn't see any difference between real child / fictional child / person who is not child but looks like one, both real and fictional (erm...). And it's "up to two years" for possession of pornographic material with "child" according to this definition, and same for using computer to access such material. Clearly, the idea that fictional characters can't be hurt is too difficult to grasp for some.
So far I haven't heard about anyone fucked up by the absurd parts of this law, but in theory, even such nice forum as this one is a minefield, because there are definitely some characters here, who might look like perhaps 17 and 1/2 or so.

I hate that though, because it will be hard for young games to grow. They will depend even more on sites such as these for good word of mouth.

I guess that depends on what you wanna use it for. I'm just out for exposure, not somewhere I can get donations. So I guess I'm going to post to Twitter as well, since they seem to be pretty relaxed considering how many actual pornstars are posting on there. And places like this forum. Maybe Blogspot. Anywhere I can reach people who might be interested in what I'm putting out there.

It was only a matter of time before this happened. The only surprise is there wasn't a media campaign highlighting the content of some of these games first.

Producers that are clearly assuming they will have this revenue stream for years to come (e.g. Mr Dots) will never see their project finish. People expecting to ever see the end of DMD will be disappointed.

Producers should be aiming for short projects (6-9 months max) and use their developing skills to go more mainstream. The amount of money being made simply attracts too much attention.

all the game devs have to do is put the disclaimer "all charters is over the age of 18 or 21" and "this is a work of fiction" as for bestiality well i don't see how they can get around that one but i've seen a few game devs with heavy bestiality games that hasn't been touched.. like Ark Thompson.. then again none of this is real and its all pixels too bad Patreon don't see it that way...ensive:ensive: (my guess is that someone is reporting them, maybe a troll or another game dev)

also i saw the change of rules here on F95, so i want to know if they'll also be banning games on here like DoD, DMD, BB, STS or only extreme cases they'll ban a game??

I am curious as i am also working on a VN in Ren'Py which has a mother son type relation. However sex is late in the game and as the story is lined out now there is only plan for 2 sex scenes but it is very clear that noone is forcing no one, All other sexual content is "normal" as in no incest/rape or any other "bad" situation. As it stands now i am only doing the last renders and some finishing touches on the first chapter but i refuse to change the story. I allready changed the title as when i wrote the layout of the chapter i discoverd that the way the story was going that title wouldn't be right/accurate.

I did check out mr dots page and i did notice how he changed things. You just need to remove all the references and you will be ok (for now). It does make me wonder. Keeping mr dots as an example here i do not think he should change his story. It would be easy for him to let the daughter be a product from rachel and the guy she cheated dad with to drive away from the whole incest fetish but it would ruin (in my opinion) the story.

I think for now Patreon wants to cover their asses as we have seen many of these new novels rise. The good ones (DmD, DoD, Dreaming of Dana, duel family, the twist, big brother, etc.) they will continue as they are well known i just think patreon will make it harder and have something behind their back.

Kinda like here in the Netherlands. The cops are OK that weed is bought and seld but it's not a 100% legal. So if things go out of hand they have something behind the door to throw at them and close them (temporarely) down.

I personally think that the legal department is covering their asses just in case. You know how it works. If some idot says in court i played an incest game so i thought banging my daughter would be ok then Patreon would get public poinion against them. This way they can knip it in the but and say that they do not support this according their rules and regulations.
