Patreon Is Hardening Their 'Adult Content' Guidelines. Discussion Thread

I am curious as i am also working on a VN in Ren'Py which has a mother son type relation. However sex is late in the game and as the story is lined out now there is only plan for 2 sex scenes but it is very clear that noone is forcing no one, All other sexual content is "normal" as in no incest/rape or any other "bad" situation. As it stands now i am only doing the last renders and some finishing touches on the first chapter but i refuse to change the story. I allready changed the title as when i wrote the layout of the chapter i discoverd that the way the story was going that title wouldn't be right/accurate.

I did check out mr dots page and i did notice how he changed things. You just need to remove all the references and you will be ok (for now). It does make me wonder. Keeping mr dots as an example here i do not think he should change his story. It would be easy for him to let the daughter be a product from rachel and the guy she cheated dad with to drive away from the whole incest fetish but it would ruin (in my opinion) the story.

I think for now Patreon wants to cover their asses as we have seen many of these new novels rise. The good ones (DmD, DoD, Dreaming of Dana, duel family, the twist, big brother, etc.) they will continue as they are well known i just think patreon will make it harder and have something behind their back.

Kinda like here in the Netherlands. The cops are OK that weed is bought and seld but it's not a 100% legal. So if things go out of hand they have something behind the door to throw at them and close them (temporarely) down.

I personally think that the legal department is covering their asses just in case. You know how it works. If some idot says in court i played an incest game so i thought banging my daughter would be ok then Patreon would get public poinion against them. This way they can knip it in the but and say that they do not support this according their rules and regulations.

I think they should not. Only in extreme cases like pedosexual content.

Strange thing being this came now (only).
They are quite some peoples who are very limited as to what is ok and what is not (thanks religion but not only), thus of course dead set on the "even thinking about it will lead to it" as such, playing or reading will directly mean offence in the real life scene.

Maybe if most devs had listened first time when Patreon changed rules months ago, to ban nudity on public front page, we wouldn't had this shitstorm today, some ppl did listen like Dark Cookie from Summertime Saga and some others, but most from what I saw didn't. It will be interesting to see how will this all end, potentially if Patreon start cracking on Adult Games it will make space for some other third party maybe none US based to swoop in and try to steal some thunder , we never know, witch would be a good thing imo OR this may as well kill the our little west porn game renesanse that we started to enjoy.
