As you write, it's a completely fictional world. On the other hand, Thinkerer sticks to folklore quite a bit and somehow I still feel that the PQ world is quite similar to ours. Asia in the east. The black continent in the south. Giants from the north...Reanna mentions having been a 'shield maiden'.
IIrc, that's a Scandinavian / Viking thing.
But... as I said before, we're talking about a fictional fantasy realm.
Tink may draw a generalized inspiration from certain cultures, but the details are very hodge podge.
And I couldn't find anyone with a similar name in Norse folklore. In Celtic, it's Rhiannon...
Actually, I completely agree with DomWolf on this, I just feel that Wierwood is situated in places that would probably correspond to the 7-10 meridian
