Alright. Time to pay the piper. I may have vastly exaggerated my own abilities. Look, we all should have hopes and dreams, but let us call them hopes and dreams. I'm not quite done with my 3 days of rendering (thought it was 5 to start), so I won't mention numbers just yet. I don't want to look like a complete buffoon. Someone say, "Good luck with that!" Anyway, it has been a couple of good days for rendering. Posing is really the time sink...and simulating the dforce items (Daz gravity simulation. Why isn't it called g-force?...I guess we all know the reason for that).

I didn't get to my famed pocket diary this week, but I have lots of thoughts for the future of Pecker PI and maybe beyond. Baby steps.

The next Pecker PI case will be more complex as it will have two story lines that converge. Not to give too much away, but the story will revolve around a movie star, the production of her latest block buster (a Western), and a character that is historically not a friend of our MC. So, some movie making scenarios, some new characters, some old ones gone, and a lot of fun. I'm not sure I will go into any more detail for now. The next pocket diary will definitely be a "What happens after the next case?" thinking. Rest assured, if Pecker PI is what you want, Pecker PI is what you will get;-) Or that is at least that is the current thinking. I'm just making this shit up as I go.

I was going to post a render but realized that I might not want to put up any spoilers. I'll think about it some more and maybe post one separately. So many decisions.

BTW, sorry for the late case log. An old sports injury (torn muscle by right shoulder blade) reared its ugly mug and made it hard to focus on anything but to avoid taking breaths that were deep enough to be painful. Yeah, a real treat. It is on the mend. I'm just not moving much to avoid aggravating it. It is now well enough to sit straight-backed at the computer.

Anyway, as I was sitting, trying to avoid moving and breathing, I got some writing done and started looking at adding some music. I rewatched L.A. Confidential yesterday and everything in that movie is pretty excellent. I'm not pretending that Pecker PI is that. Tone is vastly different, and I got my main actor from the Craig's list leftover bin, and they have a great cast:) But I take inspiration where I can find it! The music is great, and I realized that I have underutilized the trumpet, so more trumpet...probably not more cowbell.

I have a few rendering days ahead. No predictions this time. I found that my optimism really only works for me when I can exceed the predictions. When I can't hit the mark it becomes a little depressing, so I'm going to put the reins on counterproductive optimism. That said, I'm still optimistic that I will have a great render week!

I promise that there will also be a diary post this week with mind bending thoughts. Or maybe just thoughts.

I know Jonathan Hang's week has been great and full of liquids...Oh, come on! I meant water.

Case Log #10 Ch6 and other thoughts.

On time this time (I wrote this yesterday, but didn't post it). Do I deserve props for that? Probably not. I am quite self-aware, and I expect no chants of greatness...well, maybe a little whisper. It kind of paints the picture of Pecker PI: A whisper of success. Well, I'm here to tell you that this whisper will eventually turn into a roar. Ok, that felt a little out of character. Let's move on.

I promised a diary post. Dropped the ball on that. However, I will make this a case log/pocket diary fusion. For those of you who enjoy my tirades, rants and complete nonsense, I will indulge in such, previously mentioned, behavior.

To start, I have had a pretty good run of render days. Thinking back, I do believe that I brushed these scenes off as "quick". They are not. Partly because I realized that the intimate scenes deserve some real care. When I started Pecker PI, my initial thought was to tell a story with the adult theme as a side-kick. I know now that that is not the way to handle things. It all deserves attention and care. You have no idea how many times I re-render things because of some minute detail. Maybe it doesn't matter in the end, but I can't bring myself to not at least try to make this project the best it can be. It obviously evolves as we go, given that I probably should have started with a smaller project...too late for that. I enjoy the process and wish I could be a little faster.

For the diary I intended to give a glimpse into the future. I will concede that the future is mostly unknown, and these days the future of AVNs is particularly dark. That said, until I run into any real issues, I plan to forge ahead. As I have mentioned previously, the plan is to continue with Pecker PI for at least another "book", "season" or whatever you want to call it. Book 2 will feature all the current LIs of the first season with the subtraction of a few and the addition of a few that are "case" based. I'm looking forward to the next story line as it has a little more complex story, partly because the first one sets up the characters in the world.

Now, what happens after Pecker 2.0? That is up for debate. If the second book is as good as I think it might be, there could be another case right away, but if things don't turn out the way I want them to, there are a few ideas that I've been kicking around. I like Pecker PI as a series, but there are other ideas that were in the running when I started out.

The first of them is a vampire western idea (less vampire more western) with a bit of Sundance and Butch bend to it. Basics of it would be MC is a vampire outlaw, upside is that when he unfrequently gets caught and hung, he survives. He teams up with the writer of western dime novels. The two go on unlikely adventures in the wild west. I have done a fair deal of research and have invested in a bunch of location assets to make this idea happen. It isn't too far removed in tone to Pecker PI, so that feels like it's right in my wheelhouse.

Other ideas are more geared toward the struggle of humanity, and not super original in that there are already shows and AVNs that are doing exactly that. Actually, the next two are almost identical just different locations and time. Both are "Lost"/"The Lord of the Flies" -esque. The first puts us on an island after a global disaster. The upside is that here all the women can be almost naked! The downside is that it might get a little limited as you go in terms of story. It was never my go-to, but there is something interesting about civilization building. Which leads us to the other idea that is quite similar, but in space. Colonization gone slightly array. Same basic idea but in space with some different challenges and more clothing.

An idea that has been a thought for a long time is the story of a college football team that all of a sudden has great success out of nowhere. It's a bit of a horror comedy, where the MC is the second-string quarterback that gets thrown into the game despite his own reluctance. This one is more social commentary on the rampant steroid use in college and professional sports than anything else. It does have an interesting connection between college journalist and MC, and the other obvious females in that milieu. Problem with this is that it's another college AVN and despite it being a vastly different story, it might be too close to other AVNs.

Case Log #11 Ch6

Alright acttually on time this time...I think. Rendering has been good, gotten some writing done, and working on expanding the sound track a little. I've been relegated to work on weekends only. New job and all that. It doesn't really change anything as I have been rendering mostly on weekends anyway. I'm not going to post numbers right now as it only serves as a reminder to myself of the snail pace I feel I'm on. The real speed bumps are clothing, hair and posing. How to get around that ? The obvious answer: everyone is naked and just standing there. Alas, that is not going to cut it. So, I'll post numbers once I feel like we are making real progress. It's not that I don't want to share, I will gladly do that, but it is destructive to my motivation. I will set one single goal though (DeJa'Vu coming up for those of you who have been around for a bit) and that is to be done with this chapter for the holiday break.

It's a good goal, and I will do my best to keep that. I'm trying to keep up with coding and image post work. I'm doing ok on image post work and if I don't have to do that as I'm finishing things up, the release will be much faster from render completion. I'm still doing fixes to the grammar/spelling of chapter 1-5, so that isn't such a task at the end of the season. It is funny how the writing (which I think is the most important part), takes a backseat to everything else. I re-render tons of stuff, but the writing gets one pass before go-time.

There is one thing I'd like to change with the UI and that is to add player points to the player/character cards, but I'm not going to mess with the code right now. I will focus on the next few chapters before that happens...if at all. But I think it would be nice, but it depends on how complicated that is. Some games have amazing Ui, but I never really thought that UI was a sign of a good AVN. It is a package deal though, so we shall see.

Ah, promises made and promises broken. If ours was a romantic relationship, you would have dumped me a long ago:) As always, I appreciate the support and your positivity.

So, one of my friends sent me a few AI generated scenes that he made based on a script he had written a while back. F**K! I haven't been investing too much time watching AI generated videos. I've seen some recently that have looked pretty good, but the difference between real life production and AI generated content is getting frighteningly close. It made me a little depressed when he told me that he worked on his 2-minute clip for 10 hours. I put in 10 hours just to create 20-ish renders (depending on what the scene requires). I may have invested in the last Daz asset, unless they lean into the AI world to speed things up...they will be toast. I haven't been a fan of the AI generated projects in our small neck or the woods, but I see some tremendous upside to the prospect of quickly posing a scene and outputting it. I think at this point it's silly to think that the AVN world wouldn't be affected or maybe improved. I don't know.

What I do know is that scene 4 was a little render heavier than expected. It will be done today with a current total of 175 renders. I vaguely remember thinking that scene 3, 4 and 5 would be done in a couple of days...not so much. Anyway, as I mentioned, the scene will be finished today. Scene 5 is smaller, but with some weight on posing. I hope to set it up today, which I don't think is impossible.

My new RL job is pretty sweet, but it leaves me with no time to render during the weekdays. But it shouldn't affect the progress much...as long as I can get over this AI business.

I was going to make this into a Halloween render with some ground fog and face paint, but I realized that I have no face paint assets and I'm not keen on spending on shit that is a one and done...unless its story related. So, my apologies for the lack of Pecker PI holiday renders. I do have a couple of Christmas assets, so I'll put something together for that. That said, this is an in-game render. If this was a video, it would be in slow motion with some Aerosmith song playing as they walk though smoke. Why? Because this crew is just as ridiculous as the oil rigg crew trained to be astronauts was. If you don't get the reference, don't worry, you have missed nothing of value.

Things are moving well in scene 5. Not a ton of renders this weekend, but some progress on writing. I take that as a win. Rendering is as usual the bottle neck of this process. Motivation is up and down. That AI clip that I mentioned last week really put some doubts in my mind as to whether or not this is an endeavor that is worth the 1000s of hours it takes to complete. I have come to the conclusion that it is. I think the little niche we are in can survive. That said, I also think that my original thought about Daz being dead without embracing some AI to enhance and speed up the process is true. In the meantime, I will continue down the set path. I will explore some AI paths, but I'm not really interested in the look of most AI generated AVNs. I do think that this takes too long in general, but if I am to make a shift, I want it to be my visual concept and not just another obvious AI product. Do I know what will happen? Per usual, no.

Anyway, we are moving along with chapter 6.

I decided to pause billing for November. The last 12 days I've worked 11 of them. I don't want to stress over my responsibility to the membership. so mostly just for my own well being. I will still have a day here and there to work on Pecker PI, so it's not a stand still by any means....it's just not fast enough for me to feel right about it. I'll keep posting minor Case Logs every week.

I'm at the beginning of scene 5, but I think a full render day might be enough to finish it. Scene 6 should be similar, but with a new and hopefully exciting environment. A visit to Rackham prison, followed by some working out at Sam's and The Bellarosa Dinner scene. There are a couple of orphan scenes that I might use to push the Dinner scene toward the end of the chapter. Still mulling it over.

That is it for now. Sunday is the next day at the PC, so should have an idea of the scene 5 status then.

Too bad it's copyrighted, or I'd look forward to hearing "Jailhouse Rock" in the background of the prison scene.
