I keep getting this error when I load my save and the game just freezes after clicking OK. I tried loading a very early save one where you speak with the doctor and it loaded fine so it seems only saves further into the game around day 10 or so.

Any chance there is a fix for this? looked through other people's errors and it seems generally there isn't one. Shame I was really enjoying the game up until this point :(
Sometimes saves from older versions won't work once the game is updated. This is unavoidable if you've saved on a scene I later need to change (particularly the apartment, which sometimes needs work). Saving in scenes with a separate loading screen, like the flashbacks and sex scenes, will likely be a little more reliable. The game is non-linear and designed for multiple runs through anyway, so I've designed two features in to ease the process, particularly during this early access phase:

1) When you start a new game you can skip the intro (taking you straight to the apartment on day 1) or you can get an accelerated start (taking you to day 7, just before Emi, Nobuko and Shizu's sex scenes).

2) The game saves persistent memory about what you've seen in the game and if you turn on the "scene skip" funtion in the stats menu you will speed through stuff you've already seen. For sex scenes you're usually given a prompt of whether you'd like to skip it or not, though, just in case.

I give up, i got a message telling me to investigate something about a casino flashback in the subway, there's absolutely nothing there
Is the problem that you're not able to go to the subway? There was an old bug related to that but I tracked it down and that should be fixed. If you can go down to the subway (from the entrance room) you can just click on the subway map there and select the flashback option.

Looks like the game is incredibly buggy right now. I'm constantly getting "Now Loading" black screens and it just wont advance. I'd recommend going back and fixing these issues
Occasionally, when a new scene is loading, the loading may break and seem to simply be taking forever on a black screen, generally when trying to load the apartment. I know it's frustrating - it is for me too. Unfortunately this is because of a memory leak issue in the audio code used by the engine, not an issue in my own code, therefore there is no simple fix I can make for it. It doesn't happen on most systems, only a minority, and it doesn't have anything to do with how powerful the computer is - I just can't predict whether you'll get the problem or not. I have been working to try and find workarounds for the issue, but in the meantime my best advice is to download the alternative "no music" version, which is designed to reduce the effect, although it may not eliminate it entirely.

I'm having the same issue reported above. I attempt to load in a saved game and get a black screen. I'm also starting to see just loading the game will result in a black screen (relaunched the game, got to the main menu, before I could click on anything it went black). Even starting a new game will result in a crash within a few seconds.

I'm on a Mac. With Apple's latest MacOS update (Big Sur) I usually spend some time in the Terminal to get these games to work. Most of the time it takes a game two launches before it works. That is not the case for this release. I will say that I've had no issues with previous releases of this particular game. Anyway, just wanted to toss out my experience to the growing chorus.
That menu screen issue actually doesn't sound like behaviour I've heard reported before. I do know that Mac's most recent update screwed with the game a bit, though, so maybe that's the problem? I don't actually have a Mac, so I can't test it myself.

On the difficulty loading saves, though, the issue is probably just that it's a broken save from a scene that's since been updated and hence the old save now can't be loaded, as mentioned above.

Game appears to be frozen when I load up a save on a decision screen. I can click one of the choices and it doesn't do anything after. Freshly installed, no old saves used.
Oh, you're still getting that problem? Damn, I thought that was fixed. It's a rather rare bug (another problem with the engine) that I thought the engine developers had actually solved. I had a talk to someone from the company about it, in fact. It happens when you load into a scene with a choice coming up; there aren't that many scenes that trigger it in the game, but there are a couple. In which scene did this happen for you, exactly?

My problem was that the map had nothing clickable, had to restart the game to fix it

How strange; I've never seen that bug before. You must have found some path through the game that misses the trigger to unlock the scene, which should be impossible but maybe some specific set of circumstances can make that happen. I'll take a look and see if I can figure it out.

Just as a theory, did you have any jealousy arguments on that day? They were causing a problem with that so I made it so they shouldn't trigger and override the scene, but maybe something else triggered and overrode the scene you were supposed to get?

I do remember them arguing a little

That's probably it, then. I got rid of the bug that cut off the subway but there must be an additional way to cut off the unlocking of the flashback scene. Thanks for the report, I'll take a look at it. (y)

This scene, after I click on 1 of the choices the story doesn't advance. I didn't use the save/load system that displays in the dialogue but the one in the top right.

Yes, that seems to be the scene that triggers the bug. This was actually fixed, but I think the fix must have got rolled back at some point and now I'll have to track down the script solution for it again. For this version, however, I think you'll just have to avoid saving in that scene. (The choice there doesn't actually make a huge difference; just a small number of trust/love points one way or another.)

I'll fix this when I can, though, so thanks for the report.

When I let Hirai take one of the girls out, the game says he's paid me $50, but this is not reflected in my funds at all.

I can't even get it to open. The last version worked fine and I've changed a few things in the Terminal (changed some Text Edit files to Unix Executables) but still haven't had any luck. I keep wondering if I'm missing something but no dice as of yet.

Ah, yes, this is an old bug. It's fixed in v0.25 (and 0.26.1, of course) but not in 0.24. Thanks for the report, though.

Please do let me know if you figure it out; as I said I'm not able to test that myself without a Mac.

I'm looking for the collector's cards and trying to figure out which I've missed. Below are the ones I have. I'm sure I'm missing any associated with pimping the girls out, but are there others I'm missing?

I don't like to give guides of my own games, but I will give the hint that there aren't any associated with pimping the girls out. I prefer to leave that as totally opt-in content.

I'd like to play this game. Project looks interesting, writing is decent, models are quirky yet sensual, dev is active and creative, opening 5 or so minutes are promising.

But it's just unplayable. The terrible engine and this particular use of it causes massive memory leaks. It's like getting perfect storm of viruses that slowly die down over next 15 minutes (I mean that) after you quit the game (messing up both RAM and CPU; browsers are affected as well). Had the same issues mentioned in the thread with long loading screens (even when accessing save/load game or options).

When you create unplayable game (not the idea of it and ideas in it, but mechanically) you might wanna reconsider. This engine is just not it. Excluding unreal engine-based games, I've never had problems with any games put on this site - except this one. Unplayable game defeats the purpose of the game itself: to have fun.

Also, it's possible to make games with audio in renpy: vide Milky Touch. Just food for thought.

I recognize that development process is quite far, but take this advice as a kind one: use better engine. If not now by redoing this game, then in the next project.

How do I access the scenes where any girl chooses Hirai over the MC? I can't seem to get the scores right. A save file would be appreciated!

What Terminal commands do you use to get these games to work? Before Big Sur there was only one command that I needed to run to 'fix permissions' (pretty sure that's what I was doing). That command was 'xattr -rc <path>'. Now I have to use 'sudo chmod -R 755 <path>', sometimes by itself other times coupled with the first one.

I know just enough Unix to be dangerous and only a handful of Terminal commands. I do know that using 'sudo' isn't something one should take lightly as sudo means superuser do, which to my understanding is a half-step short of root access.

BBBen I do know that I've successfully have gotten other games/apps to work without a hitch using these commands. My thought wasn't it's a MacOS issue given that the game would launch, however briefly. Although I will admit that Apple likes to make things a bit more difficult than it needs to be concerning running software that doesn't run through them, so you may be right but that's not the feeling I got this time.
