I kinda liked the avatar. No point in the game telling me the MC's tits are fucking huge without seeing it. It was part of the fun and made the whole "corruption" angle something a bit more tangible.lets be honest here the avatar no one gave a shit about anyway, it was a shit feature and I can't believe they charged for that shit. 3d would fix nothing.
Really if you want to have a version of PE that doesn't suck, just do what I did and use an LLM to generate a better story with a proper conclusion. You can even have an avatar that doesn't look like shit thanks to Stable Diffusion and have the characters all have images associated.
I'm almost tempted to try and generate the whole game in a week and just dump it here just to add further insult to the devs.
As for AI avatars, they're kind of a pain in the ass. Believe me. And this is from someone who is extremely proficient with image editing and AI gen, and making a paperdoll with AI (though it wasn't implemented in the game it was made for due to time constraints and other shit coming up, so was left unfinished). Consistency is the real issue, since paperdolls are largely static and you're creating dozens of layers for it. All of which can't move at all really. ControlNet does a lot of the heavy lifting in terms of keeping things consistient, but things can still get a bit nebulous and need manual tweaking.
Couple that with the fact that you can't generate images with good alpha channels (yet) (as in alpha channels that are really fucking clean like you did it by hand), and it's a whole bunch of work separating out each and every layer manually. Compared to a bespoke solution where you just draw them layer by layer with the alpha coming free.
Not to mention, AI text is pretty shit. Again, speaking from a good chunk of experience. It's alright when you're on coom-brain and it's genning the exact degenerate shit you get off to, but once you get that post-nut clarity it's all really fucking trash and lacks any kind of flow or coherency.
You're welcome to give it a go for "teh lulz", and gen up a whole game+avatar, but I'm quite sure the cracks and issues would be pretty evident. Don't get me wrong, I love me some AI for making all the fucked up shit I'm into, and I'm not in the retarded "aI iS sTeALiNG bRo" crowd, but there's something about a personal touch and knowledge of the story as a whole and writing towards that goal that I think AI really lacks at this moment.
AI right now, in terms of text, really lives in the past. As in, it can only generate based on what came before and what's in its limited memory. It's got absolutely zero forward thinking in terms of the whole "big picture" thing. It doesn't work towards a goal, because it doesn't have one. Obviously this is by design, and obviously you can nudge the gens in the general direction where you want it to go, but it doesn't know how the story ends. Only what it just did.
Still, I'd like to see your effort at giving it a go. I won't berate you for it. I'm interested to see if it's an easy job as you think, or if there's quite a bit more effort involved than initially thought. My money's on the latter.
