It really is clumsy. Looking through the scripts I don't get why they did half of what they did, it seems needlessly cumbersome for what it actually does. I'd have to disagree about the choices making a difference. So far they really change fuck all. Unless you count changing a disposition, but I don't. It could matter later on but id doesn't now.
The thing is that some choices give a boost to certain character stats, which are not visible to the player, but directly affect the subsequent dialogs
And there are already A LOT of stats
This demo is just a tiny tip of a huge pyramid
That was my point

i mean i get the dev i would love to make a game with everything i love in games but at the same time i'm cognizant enough to know that that is a fools dream because a game of that scope would dwarf AAA games.

If you want to get anything done as a solo dev you need to mind the scope of your project or you will never get anywhere.

Why does 0.02 end at the same point 0.01? I see nothing new at all. BTW the only scene is to explore the alley.

I mean this should tell us all we need to know. Dev went too big too early as others have said. There's nothing wrong with building the core of a game and expanding on it later, even using a template of the mechanics/features of your first game to build on in a potential future second game. Content creep is a problem a lot of H-devs or even non-H indie devs run into. Even the so-called AAA devs have issues with too much "bloat" in their games causing issues.

I mean, is it even a scoping issue. It only a 0.02 version of a very new project and the dev is already "burned out"? It feels like the dev my have not been into it it from the start honestly. Figured they could give it a go and realized it's not for them. Nothing wrong with that but devs really should spend time doing these things on their own before releasing it to the public to see if it is something they would actually like to do.

Also if it happened this early and they said the full attention won't be on it that screams abandoned. It's pretty ambiguous as well. Focusing on other stuff? Such as this game and a side project, two at the same time? Real life stuff and this is an occasional side hobby? Who knows.

Version 0.3 (I changed the versioning. Technically it's 0.3.1.1) is here! OLD SAVES ARE INCOMPATIBLE. YOU MUST START A NEW SAVE. (Sorry!) If you find any bugs or issues, please report them in the comments of this post or in the server.

Changelog:
  • Code Restructure
    • A massive reorganization & rewrite of a lot of systems in order to be a lot easier to work with. This should make updating in the future far easier and prevent breaking future saves. (Hopefully)
  • New Route
    • In this route, you'll be entering Neo at night which leads to different encounters and opportunities. Spoilers for how to get there:
      • When first encountering Erika, do one of the following:
        • Choose "Sorry, your highness!" -> "Then you should learn to cook."
        • Choose "I have a cute best friend?" -> Pat her head OR Counterattack! -> "Then you should learn to cook."
        • Choose "I have a cute best friend?" -> "I'm sorry... Don't scar me again..."
      • You'll know you're in the route if the time of day in your room is Night.
  • New Menus/UI
    • The default game menu has been completely replaced and new settings have been introduced. It is still pretty barebones and very W.I.P! (Profile and Characters still use the old sheet for example.)
    • The textbox has been removed so you can view all the goods without hiding it. In the future, I'll reintroduce it and have options to adjust visibility.
  • New Save System
    • Saves are now "Save Games" with "Save Files" inside them. Essentially, you create a folder which is tied to your current game and saves for it are stored inside said folder. It's basically like Baldur's Gate 3's save system. This should make keeping track of different playthroughs much easier!
    • IMPORTANT! Currently autosaves are disabled since they don't work properly. Quicksaves technically work, but you can't view them. You can only save and load your most recent one using the quick menu buttons. I'm working on restoring both functionality! Remember to save often!
Known Issues:
  • Customer Clash Prompts don't show the persona fragments they give.
  • Some codex entries are unfinished.
  • Some SFX don't play properly. (You probably won't notice it since they don't play. :p)

EDIT: as there was some confusion, the first time you enter something when starting a new game is just answering if you know the name of the beauty

is there really no simple unlock mode patch?
one that simply unlocks the mode, so it carry's over from game patch to game patch, without needing to wait for that versions edeting patch to be released.
sinds Canonstory was supposed to be that unlock code right?
a patch is mutch simpler, and straightforward to do.
