Yes, sometimes characters look different between scenes. Characters received a visual upgrade at some point; many scenes still contain old renders, and the difference between the characters' appearance in the old images and the new ones is huge.
Old renders are slowly being replaced with new ones; remakes of renders are made when content for a given character is updated. Jennifer recently received a remake along with her update, for example.

I'd say no. But that might just be because when they appear it's jarring.

They just look worse imo. They used to have a certain charm too them, that's gone in the new versions.
