Because they are
all humans, not AI chatbots, yet...
Devs are flawed and fucked up humans. Same as the people that consume our content are...
You are setting yourself up for disappointment by expecting perfection.
But seriously, do you think devs are immune from the challenges of life?
Do many, not
all, devs make the mistake of over promising and under delivering, absolutely.
Are there some, not
all, that try to bullshit their way out of not making a self-imposed deadline, yes.
Shame on them for writing checks their ass can't cash.
You should never set a hard deadline unless you can 100% deliver on it.
Most devs on this site are a lone person or small team collaborations. They have an idea for a project but don't have a clue what it takes to sustain it.
I had to find out for myself that producing a game was not as easy as it appeared to be.
After doing it for a while, it's not a mystery to me why so many newbie devs burnout and abandon their projects. It is a relentless, energy draining grind to produce content. Is it also satisfying and fun to do, yes. (At least it for me
)
It is demoralizing as well when you spend months producing content, only to have it skipped through in minutes, and then immediately hounded on when the next update will be out.
It's easy to bitch and moan about not getting what you want, when you want it like an entitled, petulant child.
Especially when you don't have a clue on what it takes to produce anything but CO2.
I'm not trying to be a grouch, but I get that way when people make broad, sweeping statements that
all devs do x,y or z...
