thanks for whis walkthrough. the "official" guide is needlessly wordy and long.
that one is more like a game guide than a proper walkthrough. It can get a little wordy, true, but I like the kind of insights it offers for each critical choice

So, I love the game, but a few things.

#1. Saying you can't get mad if you aren't a Patreon isn't fair at all. Basically everyone who plays it is investing time. I know some of you younger people don't quite resonate with this yet but time isn't something you can be refunded like a Patreon pledge is. So I disagree anyone who's invested time has a right to feel what ever way they are feeling about the game and I'll stand by that.

#2. Leaving the game on a cliffhanger when the updates are so far between each other is rather suspect and will cause people to think twice before returning to the game or pledging as a donator, that's a bold strategy Cotten. For myself, I'm disappointed but I'm invested so I already decided that I'll wait it out for the next update and see how everything is handled... that brings me to

#3. There has to be consequences for the detective. You as a Dev have to see things from a players perspective. If I got stabbed, romance or not because a detective FAILED to do her job and she flatout REFUSED to stop a dangerous criminal whose murdered 6 people AFTER she pointed her gun AT ME and NOT at the dangerous murder, regardless of her affiliation to said criminal that's a HARD sell on forgiveness. In fact I would personally see her career over that isn't a minor fuck up. That's some hard core mistakes that need consequences. There isn't enough spin to make that okay which leads me to believe that you're left with only a few options. She does kill him, ending that arc early, she shoots him and then apprehends him so the Arc can continue later or she truly let him get away and has to spend all of her time making it up to EVERYONE by trying to capture him once again. The problem is with the last option is, who would forgive this? He's trying to kill Naomi, and Melanie is close to her mother, the other characters are in love with MC so basically at this point if anything happens to anyone at this point she is at fault. You wrote yourself into a corner with you're plot twist. It's not a bad plot twist at all, if anything I actually quite enjoyed it, but you gotta realize that players place themselves as MC and right now you're giving them a hard sell on the whole forgiveness thing. If I was you I would carefully consider that when writing each path, don't punish people for not being forgiving or you will face a huge backlash, that being said, there isn't anything wrong with forgiveness either. I'm not advocating that there shouldn't be a path of redemption, but more so it needs to be very convincing and rewarding.

Anyways your game, up to you. Thank you for all your hard work and good luck with the next chapter. I can't wait for the conclusion.

I'm going to address the ~10 people making repeated "I'm annoyed and it's vry important" comments:
Hey man i just wanted to say i enjoyed your game when i played it. I think most people realize most of the devs here are doing this stuff on the side and sometimes life gets in the way. I bet the majority of people aren't really bothered about it and hope you keep it up and are able to finish the game, they just don't come on here and say "hey don't worry about how long that last update took, keep up the good work" as much as the people who are pissed off come on and complain about it. Anyway good luck, i hadn't played your game in a while and just saw that it got an update so i'm moving it up my queue.

Just a quick FYI, I never personally said this. Others might have, though. I more lean towards agreeing with you on this. They don't need to support games to criticize them.

#2. Leaving the game on a cliffhanger when the updates are so far between each other is rather suspect and will cause people to think twice before returning to the game or pledging as a donator, that's a bold strategy Cotten.
If you leave the game on a cliffhanger "just because cool/edgy cliffhanger," sure. That's of course not why in this case. Players will understand why the chapter needed to end where it did when they play Ch5. As for the rest of what you said, I can't say much because spoilers but just wait and see. When writing these types of games or stories we obviously think about these things/it is not news to us. If we don't, then we probably have no business writing them, lol.

Also, it doesn't really bother me if a certain subset of people don't want to return or become donors. Few games, if any, will appeal to everyone. And just a quick for the record... there is one thing you said that I wanted to address: "Time isn't something you can be refunded like a Patreon pledge is." While true... we are personally responsible for how we spend our time, meaning the accountability for this falls on our own shoulders. Again, that doesn't mean we don't have the right to complain or criticize if we dislike something... but we shouldn't feel entitled to some form of compensation just because we feel like we wasted our time with something.

Putting all of this aside, I believe what you may have overlooked is that people weren't complaining because they didn't like the update, they were complaining for other reasons.

You wrote yourself into a corner with you're plot twist.
No, I didn't... and you couldn't possibly know this without knowing what happens next. Seems a bold statement to make based upon mere speculation. This isn't my first rodeo, story-wise, and I write ahead. Also, if you're concerned that someone will/would be punished for being unforgiving, you're mistaken.

Oh I wasn't making a joke, I honestly don't think they are the same faces. Just IMO. However, I haven't played PL in several months. I can see where you would see a resemblance. But I don't think HS assets can be converted or used in Daz. But, I'm no kinda visual artist so what do I know.
Oh, I thought you knew that those characters in the game were suppose to be the characters from PL and were poking tongue firmly in cheek at me. I see now that you honestly didn't know. My apologies then!

Looks like the Dev has confirmed that both of them are supposed to be their namesakes from PL, just with honey select models approximations later in the thread. :D

I also wanted to thank you for your guide, its IMMENSELY helpful Zoey, so thank you.

I had no idea, nor did I make that comparison.

Regarding the Amelia stuff: I recommend waiting until more information is revealed (all will be explained in the beginning of Ch5) before deciding if you hate her, and especially if you feel inclined to go back and change your prior decision to date her. That is what the guide written by Evv is implying, anyway.

That of course doesn't mean that if you *still* don't like the outcome or decide not to pursue her further romantically that you'll be punished for it. Only that, for now, you should extend the benefit of the doubt and not make any rash decisions... especially decisions regarding whether or not to date her in the first place, as you may just find that you made the right/better choice after all.

Cliffhanger. Endings. Are. Fucking. Evil.

Especially when there's months between updates. Sigh.

Welp, my Morality score has plummeted through the basement after that one.

Well done :)

Still wondering if anyone can tell me what distinguishes taboo version from regular version by the way.

Wow that was direct hehe, I'm not saying that people don't have the right to criticize the game and give their opinions, but they dont have the right to throw hate towards the game and the dev like i have seen.
Btw i agree with your point about the detective, im not going to forgive her, mainly because thats who i am, i dont like the feeling of betrayal, i mean imagine having a nice date with this girl, and after that when you are fighting the bad guy and you are going to do the right thing (call the police) at least in my playthrough, she still points the gun at you, ignoring the fact that her brother is a serial killer i mean wtf, sorry but no,that actually hurts more than the stab :ROFLMAO:.
I would understand if we choose the option to kill him but in both cases she points the gun at you so.

For those asking about the Taboo Edition: It needed to be introduced one chapter early so that players were made aware of it's existence. While it only changes a few lines of dialogue this chapter, it is implemented heavily and will have a vast impact in Chapter 5 and onward.
Respectfully...that tells me nothing. What is "it"? is "It" being introduced a chapter early in the Taboo edition, or outside the Taboo edition? If I install the Taboo edition must I start over from scratch to experience "it"? What am i missing here?

There's clearly more to the story here. Naomi may not be the good girl she appears to be.

Ain't it strange how every random girl the MC meets just asks him to take her virginity within five minutes of first encountering him?

That's either tongue-in-cheek porn writing....or maybe some other force is at play. The kind of force that cane drive a man insane, and maybe frame him for murders he did not commit. According to him, at least.

We'll see :)

Okay, Just completed the game up to 0.4. LOVE IT!
I love all the different girls, a little sad that there is no Ada/Elly/Lilith scenes in this version but hopefully they come soon. I think right now i'm going to a max impregnation harem.

Question though, I notice that there is some girls you have to choose between and cannot get both. For example if you flirt with Amelia and go out on her date, you miss Tanisha, or if you want to confront Chloe, you don't get to fuck Principle Williams. My questions is: will there be alternative ways to get those girls?

Those who choose to date Amelia will get an almost identical "Tanesha event" to the one from this chapter at a later time. Those who reject Amelia will not have a second chance with her. So to get both girls, the best choice is to date Amelia.

As for Cheryl & Chloe, I can't say anything about it without spoiling... but the walkthrough explains that the best option is to romance Cheryl. This may or may not lead to a packaged deal a little later. ;) If you're ever unsure about a specific choice, I recommend peeping the walkthrough.

In regards to a cliffhanger in general. Sure, no problem, great.
A cliffhanger in a porn game is not the same though. I mean, these games are played for titillation.
Ending a release on a cliffhanger leaves the reader/player without an, err, "satisfactory conclusion" if you understand my drift. It ruins the, err, flow of their, err, appreciation for the story. Ruining their, err, moment, so to speak.
-
Now, I've not played this game yet (lack of anal has pushed it down the list despite it looking and sounding very good) so perhaps this doesn't apply to this game but...yeah, not a fan of cliffhangers.
IMO, these games should always end with a larger than average (for the game) sex scene. This is for games that follow the large and planned story update schedule, rather than stop/start unplanned update schedule.
And, the warning that you are about to reach the end of content and that you should save should happen before that final scene.
This lets the player know that if they want to finish alongside the game they should do so now AND that when they load when they have the next update they get to play an erotic scene again as the first thing that they do.
Don't get me wrong, this isn't perfect of course. That last scene almost certainly isn't going to be able to please everyone (they want it with a specific character, or their kink isn't present in that final scene etc) but it is something.
