Why not both? Intimate Relations, as well as my own game The Things We Do For Love have both male and female protagonists who you swap between depending on the scene. Not sure if you're just asking in general or if you're looking for the info to decide to dev, but if it's the latter and you want to do a female protag but are worried you'll lose people, then why not try both?
I always prefer a female protagonist. Unless she's ugly, like Sara in Mass Effect Andromeda. As a male I'm much more interested in a woman's thoughts and sexuality than another guys.

I don't really know why, but I can't get myself to play as female mc. And it's a shame too, because there are tons of good games that devs put their love and labor into that I just avoid.

Male protagonist. Lesbian scenes are ok but it's just not a proper sex scene unless a girls getting pounded and for all the complaints of male protagonists, females are way more one note, airheaded girl has a train run on her.
A female protag works better for a second playthough of a game like Skyrim or Fallout with mods.

I tend to lean more towards Male MC games simply because they tend to focus on more girls then Female MC games.
Personally I'd rather see 1 dude fuck 10 different girls, rather then 1 girl fuck 10 different dudes. The only case where I don't prefer Male MC's is involves non-humans, I that case its good both ways.

No, you very specifically defined something that couldn't happen within lesbian sex that is totally possible within lesbian sex. So, if you do that, I have nothing but reason to believe that your imagination is lacking. If you can't examine your biases and remember that experiences outside your own are possible, you are the one who needs to grow up.

Same for me. I prefer lesbian games to straight ones, though in cases, I do play straight games, I prefer them male protagonists. So for me it's: Lesbian game > male protagonist straight game > female protagonist straight game.
