(This poll was already made here: https://f95zone.to/threads/poll-wha...onists-to-play-as-in-adult-games.99168/page-2 by megaplayboy10k, but sadly it was set to automatically close, so it only received 111 votes since 2021, that's unfortunate. I'm re-making the poll, but will let the votes accumulate as high as possible, preferably until it has a 1000+ votes.)

Really think about the question: What age do you prefer your MC to be in an adult porn game? Sure, context matters: an older husband married VS young 18 year horn dog looking to f 1000's of ladies, sowing oats.

Thoughts,

18 year old male
- Sexual prime. (EDIT: Based on what Chalksis Stella said, let's expand the range of sexual prime to 18-21, or even 18-23, there are many modern articles that support a high sex drive in late teens to early twenties. The idea that the precise sexual peak of a male being 18 is a concept from an article published in 1953. I'm too lazy to link to the article, but if you use term: 1953 in addition to searching for sexual peak prime, you should be able to find it on google or just dm me if it's that important; i'll find it and link it to you.)
- Horny as all hell.
- All males can relate to this.
- Not a lot of life experience, but perhaps that's a good thing when exploring a fictional world? He sees the world through fresh pair of eyes?
- Add your thoughts.....

30 year old male:
- Past sexual prime.
- Still horny as hell.
- More life experience. Sees the world with enough knowledge that he can use to compare and contrast new experiences vs old ones?
- Add your thoughts.....

More thoughts,
1. It's also possible to allow the player to choose the age of their MC, but in most cases, this demands extra visuals and writing, but entirely possible.
2. If you look at the top porn games on f95zone, which age seems most popular? From my observation, 18 seems very popular.

Would love to hear more thoughts from community.:coffee:

(Including the answer: "18" in quotes is not an endorsement. Only added for the sake of information gathering, since it exists in the original poll I linked above.)

>18 year old
>>>>>>>>sexual prime
...bro
I haven't researched this topic in over twenty years. After some digging around, 18-20 could be considered sexual peak; when males have the most testosterone in their system. So saying that 18 is precisely the peak is outdated, 18-20 seems to be general consensus now. There are articles that speak about how sexual peak is all in the mind, but I'd prefer to stick with hard science.

So, if one is making a porn game, I'd say allowing the player to choose the age between 18-23 would work while being able to keep the same 2d or 3d model for the MC?

Well, the MC need to have an age that match the story.

Not like those (too many) incest games where the MC come back after a long absence, being a successful elite military, coupled to a successful business man (that will not once have to deal with his business), have 100 years of experience in everything, and is still only 22 years old.

But how else should I live out my power fantasy? :HideThePain:

Regarding an 18+ male protagonist, just establish he is an adult male and you don't really need to mention a specific age. You could instead establish a relative age, e.g. the sexy older woman is "old enough to be his mother" or "xx years his senior". If he is experienced or not, etc., the narrative will reflect that.

It really does depend on the game and the story that's being set-up.

If the protagonist is defined for me, with their own personality and backstory, I don't care what age they are as long as the story is good and the age makes sense.

If it's self-insert with a blank slate MC (almost impossible if the MC appears in the game graphics), then I'd prefer them 18, I guess. That way their inevitable stupidity and propensity to say the exact wrong things to every potential love interest make some amount of sense.

my theoretical answer is mc age needs to fit the story, but my practical answer is 20-25 as my main interest are the m/s stories.

the sweet spot is the guy looking old enough to make it plausible that a non-pathological middleaged woman could be attracted to him, but young enough to still have that slim wiry look that doesn't quite land him in the same fully adult category with the woman. there should always be a categorical difference even if they're both technically adults, but 18 is slightly still a kid.

and also the problem with 18 is it leaves open that thought we've learned to have that he might be meant to be younger. where as 20-22 gets you in the right frame of mind where you don't question the age.

Overall, I dont really think age matters, especially outside contemporary settings. You will see games fit into two main categories, young adult and adult. Uncommon to see a shota mc and almost unseen to be playing a senior. But specific age I'd seldom used, or is only a one off mention because most of the time it isn't plot relevant.

Reading this I'm thinking about Midlife Crisis. As far as I remember, we don't know the MC age, just that he's old enough to have a youngest daughter above 18yo. This globally place him between 40yo and 60yo. And it's all we need to know to enjoy the story, as well as for the story to make sense.

Having an effectively defined age only make sense when there's a strong temporal reference in MC's life. By example if he just graduated... But in fact, writing this I don't really see another reason that this one, and "he's entering college". For everything else, it's more a question of age range.
He's junior at his job ? Well, so he's between 20 and 30. He's recently married ? Then he's between 25 and 35. He have a daughter ? Then he's between 40 and 50. And so on. From there we can deduce the other characters ages, no need to give them an effective one.

one thing I've noticed about mentioning numbers in stories is that it seems to be heavily typical for male writers, and especially inexperienced/bad ones. doesn't really apply to 18yo specifically as its main function is to state 'legal age', but with everything else there's rarely any need for writing out actual numbers.

like when you see a writer write 'her boobs were DD and his cock was a good 11" with a girth of 5"' -you instantly know it was written by a guy and likely a young one. where as women and good male writers tell you something like 'her boobs were full and heavy, his cock frighteningly large and thick."

stating numbers rarely looks good, and the more there are the worse it gets. there's just almost never a good enough reason for it.

I voted 25-29 but I'd say 25-35.

Obviously, if your game is a high school or college one then he has to be younger and that's fine. And I don't mind the college setting. I just wish fewer male player characters were witless virgins.

Assuming your game doesn't have some kind of school setting though, then 25-35 allows for a character who is established in whatever role they have. They're likely supporting themselves and have a reliable set of skills, whether that's as a fantasy adventurer, sci-fi explorer or even just a modern-day businessman.

I figure most porn comes down to the ability for one to self insert. is that true for most people?

I prefer younger MCs because when I was younger I had fantasies/desires with women older than me. it's much harder for younger guys to get those types of ladies/relationships so seeing it come to fruition in a game or in erotica is much more satisfying. I think there are natural reasons why those types of relationships are uncommon, too, so it doesn't overlap with "you're just a loser who wasn't successful when he was younger," but they're not as cringe if both parties are still good looking. MC could be top of the social hierarchy/not a loser and still have significant trouble getting older women IRL. The fiction is just making it slightly more plausible than normal.

With older MCs the types of stories that make it worthwhile often have to be quite insane/fantastical compared to younger MCs to interest me/not make me think the MC is just a loser.

To illustrate what I mean, I'll provide 2 plot lines.

Say MC is 18/19. He's low value to women despite being higher energy/better looking than at other ages. All that's needed is for an older woman to be so overcome with lust or affection that she falls for him. Eg. Try to date female gym coach, or try to female librarian, or a classmate, or a female familial figure. basically off limits irl due to power dynamics/taboo, but can be contrived away with a little world tweaking (hell it does happen irl anyway, just not often). Basically, they acknowledge that he's handsome or smart, and he just needs to prove he is worth their time. Simple. Realistic in approach, just unconventional in scenario requiring only minor world building that's different from reality. Pretty easy to self insert (in my case I'd just imagine I'm younger than I currently am).

if the MC is say 38/39, the only reason he'd struggle with women the same way a younger guy would is if he's actually a loser. Can't relate. Now of course if his aim is to amass a huge harem with a variety of different types of women/conquer the planet etc. it makes sense for him to be older rather than very young. Even so that requires more tweaking/fiction/abstraction away from reality. makes it harder to relate to and self insert. Can still be good if well written of course.

30-39, or directly +40. The MC of my current game is a 27 years old... but in my next game, it will be a +40 man, all hairy, muscled and... ... ehh, what I was saying?
