This game could have been one of the best on this site.
I am not even Browny, but I found it to be very well written and executed.

Common devs, pick up the slack and give us at least quarterly updates.

ehhh page 69, nice. on that note, NO IT IS NOT ABANDONWERE. they release an update about every 3-6 months. abandonware does not mean "Updates come out longer then I would personally like". Abandonware is "The game is fully abandoned and the dev or publisher has made it so that it is not even distributed by any legal means", IE piracy is the only way the item can be attained. the Dev is actively producing this game and releases several updates a year.

If they also would fix game locking well know bugs this one would be one of my favored games

I would argue "actively" is not really the case here. Last update was in September, so 6 months ago. Not only that, it took 7 years to finish one of the characters, Rainbow Dash, while Twilight is still "in the works".

The game may not be abandoned per se, but it certainly isn't getting anywhere soon, either

That's why no one should start a game from here which is not completed already.

You could say same thing about TV Series, anime, books..
Sometimes it worth your time even if it was slowly ongoing or even abandoned.
..Sometimes not, even if it was finished..

PWS worth a try even in this state, though :)

Well, yeah. In general i agree. Think about Firefly and Dark Crystal, probably two of the best tv-shows ever, cancelled after first season and i would rewatch any time.

And TV shows are a great example because they suffer the same fate of this games. If they are good they might be overstretched on too many season until they suck monkey balls. Or they get abandoned for whatever (often dumb) reasons.

The problem is with this games it's actually very rare to get a reasonable "4 to 7 good seasons" run.

The vast majority go on forever with a story going nowere until they look absolutely outdated, or they get abandoned because the devs no longer manage to milk money out of the project or, often the best case scenario, somewere around 2/3 of the 'second act' they get a vastly underdeveloped rushed ending.

The only way to be safe is to start a complete game that is considered a good one by most.

Sometimes i really miss the 90's or early 2000's JVNs. You know, the ones they sold already completed, no sequels, spin offs or DLCs, with no voice acting so you could have a lot of paths and sidequests.

4400 and Better Off Ted too... fucking businessmen buying up passion hobby industries to milk dry for cash was the start of the dark timeline. Same shit happening in movies and video games.

Fucking CEOs and investors know nothing about the media they peddle or even actively hate it and just want to sluice cash.

That aside, many games here are well worth trying even incomplete, and quite a few offer amazing amounts of content despite being incomplete.

The issue is not the incomplete state it's devs getting greedy and dropping to 3% of their prior effort while at an all time high level of support. If they consistently added content most people wouldn't give a shit if the game's dev time took a while.

And incomplete games are mostly a western dev problem.

But that's the problem. They should give a fuck and stop support if the effort drops too much for too long. But the whole Patreon model is a reward to lazy practice and a punishment to efficency. The longer you take to do the job, the more you get payed. No one sees a problem here?

Well, even small studios in Japan and Korea are professional studios. Just to say. Devs here might be very talented but they don't run the business in a reliable way. See the Patreon problem above. Why would they? Eastern games get revenue when they are ready to be sold.

We're the 3rd of may and still no news.
They really take us for some fools. They gain 2k a month, that's ridiculous. They also show that pusspuss can deliver fastly good artwork for some scene like with the derpy, carrot, giraff and flutter. So it shouldnt take a year to get 50% of the story of 1 character !

They spent almost a year just to finish the Twilight route, and applying functions that no one asked for, or worrying about making thousands of traditions unnecessarily, they are not at all worried about delivering any update, if there is something still this year, it is still profit.

twistedscarlet60's Friendship With Benefits 2, (while being noticeable worse than the first game), MUCH bigger than PWS, and it feels like this game will be finished before PWS get Rainbow's route finale :ROFLMAO:

It’s finally here, the secret scene all you postcard holders have been waiting for! Get it at the website!

It seems that this plant has quite the… unexpected effect on Anon. (Inquirers can find out more!)

This scene is exclusive to those with the code for now, but will be expanded upon and integrated into the full game later this year. If you can’t find your code or accidentally disposed of it, feel free to contact us at: contact@studiowhy.net

If you want access to this code now, there are two ways to get it:

  • Purchase $50 or more of merchandise from our
  • Back us at either the Philosopher or Scholar level.
This secret scene will be made public and fully incorporated into the game towards the end of this year.

In total this update contains:

  • Two new minigames that you play with Blue Fast during her finale!
  • The fully-animated secret scene for postcard holders, accessed by entering the correct code in the keypad on the door in the hallway in Anon’s house at the start of the game.
  • A complete overhaul of how we handle assets, allowing us to expand the game further.
Note: We are having some issues with the Android build, so that will come in a few days.

It's a completely free game where the devs don't even time lock the public release. I feel like half the people here must not realize that you don't even need an account or to be a supporter to get the version they just posted, the latest version is always free from their site, no login, no support required.

This "secret scene" is the first thing they've ever done that was locked behind a purchase, and if you really want it, the game is made in Unity so it takes like 30min of searching at most to de-compile and rip the code you need out. Failing that, they said in the post it'll just be part of the normal public part of the game near the end of the year, so you could always kill time playing the plethora of free games out there until then.

Just a bit annoying when half the time I see there's a new post on this thread it's just someone complaining about how long it's taking. Yeah, the development is slow, but its a pretty small team and I doubt any of them are working full time on it. As far as I know its a team of three and if you look at the Patreon they make $2689 a month, meaning about $896 per person per month. I don't know about yall, but I live in a pretty cheap area and that wouldn't even cover my rent and utilities. I get complaining about them being this slow if they were raking in $15k a month or something but come on y'all.
