good you've asked. i've been struggling with this for a while.
in the past 2 years i've put together design docs for multiple games. even tried to make something but it just doesnt work if im not not fully focused on one project. dont know how some can handle it.
being one man dev is currently my life and i cant do retarded shit like start making incest vns in daz or gay furry just because they're popular and lose all the playerbase i've gathered through out the years.
i'm good with pissing people off by adding obtuse mechanics but i wont go that far.
also i can only enjoy "numbers go up" games. money, player stats, damage... i dont care, it has to increase. so yeah, we'll stay around here.
while i have my favorite pet project i'd like to make, i'll stay in the same genre.
i might let the popular vote decide. in the end im doing it for you all.
strike a balance between passion and work, you know.
so here's 4 i would really like to make.
1. remove deep porn mechanics and turn PE into a life sim. turn on the simulation, throw you into the world and you can do whatever.
main gimmick is reactivity. your actions carry consequences through out the city. cause shit, end up in shit. help someone, anger someone else. be associated with a group, others wont react nicely.
eventually all the stuff reach the point when it starts blowing up in your face.
includes main story and a main character with a set background, but you have freeedom how to go on.
could potentially also include sandbox mode without the story and custom char, but it definitely needs some preset scenarios so you dont work in the warehouse for the rest of your playthrough. but in the end, why not?
2. fantasy dothraki-like(from game of thrones) raiding around the map causing chaos, taking slaves, trading loot for other resources, taking wives and trying to survive while pretty much everyone hates you. surely a similar mainstream game exist but i cant remember any right now.
main gimmick is that only women can do magic but it's hated by EVERYONE, including your people.
so will you have "honorable" no girls allowed raiding group with your bros or few OP sorcs.
another gimmick that could be included is multigenarational mechanics. life of a warlord isnt really long and you could continue as one of your (many) sons starting with better initial stats, perks and so on.
with multi generations it becomes some sort of roguelike(lite?)
3. scifi fantasy brothel on a spaceship. pimping out elves and aliens. pretty straightforward. also pretty close to PE actually.
no real gimmicks. fly around the space and adapt your roster to the wants of that sector, defend against others and trade around to get new people for the ship. typical game-y shit, more dangerous sector = more money = need better defense, more mobile or stationary ship, high or low class whores and so on.
4. being a fixer. for a change, you're the questgiver. manage which team or individual does what and when and so on. you get the idea.
while a fun concept, don't really know how to "organically" include porn into it. it's more of a mainstream game.
there are some more, but probably not good candidates since they're crpgs. really easy to make them shit and even if you do everything right, the audience is still really small.(bg3 doesnt count)
im leaning towards 1. so i can reuse the art, while commissioning new stuff for projects 2 or 3 and have everything ready. artists are even slower than i am and dont want to reach a point when im waiting for them.
i could do something completely different of course, but there's a high likelihood it's gonna be 1 2 or 3.
