On the topic of retired models, I personally don't care much about retired agency models, since they are provided to you at random mostly. In addition they tend to retire quicker than models you picked up in the city, filling up your retired list quite fast, and when you go to look for retired models that you've hired/contracted and that have been with you for a while, they'll be lost in the big soup that is retired agency models
Edit: There could be filters in not aware of to filter out agency models from the retired-list, now that i think about it. Was quick on the trigger when making this comment
Honestly, the photo studio is the best way to do this and it is already fairly cheap. I think it just needs some tuning if its going to be "the" early game depravity generator.
The quick guide blurb about studios should be moved to in-game, and pop-up when you purchase the photo studio.
Should probably cost less than what the fully production studios cost, not more.
You need to be able to hire freelancers for the work, rather than relying on contracted girls.
There needs to be some form of consistent income that you can get from it, too (less than porn, obviously).
Clarity regarding what exactly entails "assigning" a girl to the photo studio? Is it just all girls that have the "allowed to shoot in photostudio" tag?
A production rule for "all girls under X depravity can work in photo studio" (e.g., all those over 50 arent) would be nice QoL.
Wild. I'd never used drugs tbh so didn't realize this. Really cool interaction.
ok, so i've dropped the price a bit
you can already assign freelancers
photo contracts are pretty good income and reputation source
photomodel trait from earlier versions is gone. everyone can be assigned everywhere. same with camgirls and strippers

Some notes based on the latest 6 month in-game session:
it's part of the design to have male models rare, sorta like IRL. it's easier for female mc.
now that you mentioned it, i will make a PA policy for lowering search time for male models.
traits dont affect anything for staff members. at least not yet...
i am expanding the staff mechanics at the moment, so i might add stuff like offering drugs and shit. should have some consequences if you're doing too much, like drunk staff trashing the studio.
office party seems like a nice idea for an event yea

Playing 0.8. Sometimes, I can't tell why, I just get "Equipment Null" for movies I make, and it only seems to affect non-amateur titles, so ones that I shot in a studio. Both my studios are affected by this, seemingly at random.
Not sure, but could it have something to do with changing dates/movie types after already picking some actresses/actors? I noticed some screens have issues refreshing data regularly.
EDIT: Nope, that's not it. Just seems like when I have two simultaneous productions in my two studios, one of them gets equipment bonuses and one gets Null. Despite me having more than enough equipment.
EDIT 2: Has nothing to do with simultaneous productions, just tried having just one studio active. Apparently it's the first studio that's cursed, but I still don't know why. Tried changing the name, tried reselecting camera and equipment. No idea what's happening.
EDIT 3: Despite the ancient curse, the equipment score seems to be applied correctly nonetheless. Whether I create a movie (solo with the same actress) in studio 1 or studio 2, I get roughly the same score, despite one of them showing "Equipment Null", so I guess it's nothing to be worried about.

1. Is it normal that websites barely grow? I'm a millionaire if you count all my assets yet none of my 5 websites break even 1,000 users. Sounds like this part of the game has changed quite a bit from what the search function spat out. I just tend not to publish more scenes than necessary on the website since it barely seems to do anything. It gives fans at least, but absolutely no money (in the form of subscribers), which I need to unlock content. Bit weird. I assume gaining fans will also provide money in the long-term, but I haven't really been able to feel it much. Sorry to be so critical, but there's just a noticeable bit of missing feedback despite all the tooltips and the quick guide.
2. I also have no idea what determines cam girl happiness. Some girls are absolutely dreadful despite not having a trait like "Greedy" to justify it. Then there are just fluctuations all the time. Used to be happy, now they're indifferent and vice versa.
3. Small thing, but it would also be nice if actresses presently shooting would be noted in some way when I'm planning the shoots for the next day. The game only notes the last completed scene, not one that's currently being shot.
From your office, open the dashboard. In the "Overview" tab (first one that opens) click "Job Center". You can also find it in the mall, but through the office it's accessible 24/7.

Okay, I found my problem.
The reason I can't hire directors is because I haven't built a company yet, but here comes the kicker.
I need a reputation to build a company, but a reputation boost requires me to shoot scenes.
Without a director, I can't start shooting scenes.
It's a dead end!

Might be just dumb on this but what is the best way to make profit? Every time I open a company I always slide a hell of a lot of money. Don't just want to constantly use cheats to build it up.

Make sure you have a good amount of capital/money first before starting your company. One of the fastest way to bankrupt yourself is by hiring too many (expensive) staff and equipment. Just like in the real world, over-expanding will kill any company. Stick with a cheap director first.
How do you get the carwash? People in this thread said you just have to go there over and over again and eventually someone should show up. Nobody does though, it's been ages. Is there some additional condition? Also, I bought the car, but the achievement list says I didn't, not sure whether I'm getting its bonuses, if there are any.
EDIT: Also, I just noticed that the popularity penalty is reduced the more fame a girl has. I like this game a lot, but so much important information is hidden. Is there a more in-depth guide somewhere than the one on the dev's website?
EDIT 2: Alright, got the carwash lady now on a Sunday morning. Not sure if the day and time is important, it seemed to be for some of the special girls.
Appreciate it! I was also surprised that the PAs' policies don't change effectiveness depending on their rank, only their regular function does. It's probably obvious since some policies are very specific (like +5 happiness), but anyway. And I don't even know every regular function.
Medical advisor: reduces rehab time, lowers STD chance
Financial advisor: lowers tax rate
Talent search: finds talent faster
Publishing: ???
Production: ???
Analytics: ??? (unlocks details about fans and scene stats, but what does higher rank get?)
Right hand: ???
Another thing: I was surprised that bank interest is a direct payout instead of adding to your bank account, which I appreciate.
There are also some probably not intended helpful things:
I saved up quite a bit before starting a company and like other posters above, I had a huge ramp up in expenses by buying high quality equipment and hiring lots of staff (incl. lots of Marketing Specialist for the camshows). However, from my initial ~110k investment at the start of April, I had about 600k net worth at the end of the month; 500k of that was at the bank, leaving me with 100k cash
Despite that, I got a "Out of Money" game end when May 1st came around, despite my monthly bills being a bit under 300k. So question: why doesn't the game take into account the bank balance before deciding you're out of money ? I was fine when I emptied the bank account the day before so I had enough cash on hand but that seems kind of insane... Do people in-game not do direct deposit of their monthly paychecks ?
As a side effect of this experiment, I had enough cash on hand to trigger a visit from Sabine where you can recruit her as a PA (2nd choice); no special bonus from completing her quest though. Is it worth it to pick the first choice instead ("repeat visits") ? Is there a quest bonus/porn star recruitment option in that case ?
