Honestly, fusion is still really good. You just use it in conjunction with breeding. (Also lets you raise the max lvl and genes of unique characters once without losing the unique interactions)
And if you have a dating deck with the Breed card the crystal cost becomes negligible.

here's a brotip, you can use cheat engine to scan the turns you characters take in the arena training and freeze the value in 2, giving you infinite turns and skipping 90% of the combat BS, just make sure you have life steal swords because of the thorns people.

Started a fresh save using exclusively simplified mod, and it's pretty fun.
It largely removes the optimal "nuke everything turn 1" playstyle, which isn't a bad thing.
I dread the boss fights though, i always brute-forced them paying no attention to their mechanics kek

Edit: Umbralean's recipe is bugged, it results in water angel.
Which is too bad, 3 items producing critters are rare.

Edit the third: Got everything unlocked again. Creation using archive to spawn a godform trivialises everything. Ice affinity for icenymph (crystal fragments) and crafting ice spears during day 14 after mindlessly spamming sleep 6H and you can win in 5-10min.
Starting with piercing claws to put in them is vital for the overseer, and general QoL.
Simplified mode change the vibe and the road used, but i ended up in the same place kek

Can your own chosen character breed with other creatures and produce the same or new species?

Yes, no, kinda.
Usually you use it for... well, breeding. You can also force train/sexual intercourse directly.
The three MCs start as Human, but, as Human isn't one of the 12 "pure" species, you'll get an impure hybrid, usually of the other species, unless you breed with a human.
Evolution can transform and assume the genes of pretty much anything (also, don't transform until you really want to not spawn humans anymore, since going back to original form is, I believe, impossible).

As for how to breed. In the farm, just select two species (male/female, or futa/whatev) from both sides. Every day their compatibility will rise and depending on virility, fertility, lust?, sexual skills and preference, but also compatibility (which raises by daily once bound together in the farm), stamina, "energy" and potions (they are expensive), they'll add a certain amount of daily progress towards one egg. Once that reaches 100, you get an egg. If it goes up by 200 or more each day, you'll get 2 eggs etc (I believe there's a maximum).

Breeding as a tactic can create offspring with increased stats but it's a little... tricky? Takes a day passing to produce eggs, at least a day but usually 2 to hatch eggs, each egg tends to have equal or slightly lower genes than the parents you have to invest stability/crystals/days to increase 1-2 at a time, and traits tend to be inherited 60% of the time. The breeding fantasy of growing genes and getting traits you want is real slow within the context of 30 day runs.

Not that slow with a Breed-focused Date deck, Equalizing room upgrade and plenty of Fusions. Breed lets you get tons of eggs from a single date, which you can scour through for the best eggs and turn the rest into crystals which you can then use for fusing the hatched characters. Equalizing lets you increase low genes for less stability cost.

I don't remember any animated scenes. Early game (like day 1) levelling is not that hard on normal settings. Have a full party, at least one strong character (either strong trait or high attack power) and go in the first stabilized portal. Every time you get back to the portal you'll fully heal mana and hp of all party members. Once you are lv 5-8, you can easily start doing arena battles. Also, your spirit will level up 4 or 5 times if you befriend Aila and have her train said spirit (it does cost a bit of money)

The targets are inversed, have been for as long as i remember.
Fuck a pussy as a male, text mention your pussy gets fucked.
Do a handjob as a female, text mentions how your cock is getting handed to you.
Do some tribalism as a female or futa, text mentions how... wait, that one is ok.
Edit : Note that it affects only the text, mechanically (for the exp and limit breaks) the targets are correct
