I'm aware of another that says the opposite I don't remember who first proposed it (Byron maybe?) but it is encapsulated in Prince Ea’s poem

I think people will complain for the lack of content in 3.3 ver. Better do not post anything here.
You can't let anticipated reactions dictate your schedule.
People are assholes, they WILL whine and bitch regardless of what is or isn't there, that's just something you need to accept as a Dev., you can't do anything about that, if you try to placate them by changing your plans they will whine and bitch even more because then they will think they have power over you, that they own you. (you can never please everyone, trying too is insanity),
Focus on finding the gold in these threads, discard the dross and follow your own muse. When they start whining and bitching, just imagine them crying delicious tears into their pillows each night, let it be like nectar to you.

This has potential but I don't think the Nightly Ritual and this novel should be separate.
Think this novel would be best served to have both boys as the protagonist you follow, you follow one until he crosses paths with the other, and then you switch.
So you follow the son through the story until a Yoga event, the son goes out and you stay with the powers boy until the son comes home.
or
You stay with the powers boy after the yoga event, then stay with the powers boy until he returns to their house for the next yoga event, and then switch back to the son then.
Just an idea I'm throwing out there, as I said, this novel has potential.
