Tbh Hunter failing to corrupt and conquered the family was his own fault. First off he underestimated Sterling, he should’ve known that he was going to stop or cockblock him in every single turn. Secondly he wasted so much time playing games with sterling, he should’ve used the time to cockblock him and then built and grow a stronger connection with the girls. Hunter wasn’t taking it seriously til he had to get surgery. If he really wanted Sterling gone, he should’ve been tried to get rid of him or try to set him up earlier in the game

There was a shit ton of theorising than more than fucking the girls, Hunter's actual goal was grooming a succesor on Sterling but the thing on that theory is that hunter was actually expecting for Sterling to SHARE after he was corrupted so once he noticed Strling wasn't sharing and was a literal threat to his life Hunter decided to go for the throat.
