Ok here’s my What if
What if David never caught Hunter and Drew with Keira and Nora
and never found out about their whole plan?
It's difficult to imagine that David wouldn't have found out
eventually, but let me try to explore this idea...
In the canon story when David caught Hunter and Drew, it was 2004. Hunter's wife Annabelle died 2 years earlier, and since then Hunter had joined Drew in having sex with Nora and Keira. (Drew having seduced Nora and Keira way back in 1999 when they moved in to Hunter's house.)
Without David's interference, I think Hunter would have been pursuing 3 main goals: 1) keep fucking Nora and Keira; 2) wait for the clones to grow/mature; 3) seduce and fuck Ophelia.
Regarding Nora and Keira, in the present time (2019, when the main story takes place) they seem only mildly embarrassed about the years they spent having sex with Hunter and Drew. I would've expected them to have more shame and regret, but they seemed more or less fine, and why wouldn't they be? All of their needs were being taken care of, financially and
physically. So if David hadn't caught them, I'm sure this arrangement would've continued indefinitely.
Regarding the (apparent?) clones, I infer that the process of creating them began around the time of Annabelle's death, or shortly thereafter, and that they grow up at a normal rate. I'm not sure how Hunter initially funded this project or their upkeep. He wasn't running an international prostitution ring until
after being found out by David, but I suppose Hunter already had some wealth and investments.
Ophelia was 21 in 2004, and raising 3 kids: Brenna, age 6; Sterling, 4; and Catherine, 3. They would've taken up most of Ophelia's time, so Hunter was probably waiting until the kids were a little older before he pursued Ophelia.
Eventually, Hunter would've tried to seduce Ophelia secretly, much like how he tries to in the beginning of the game. If David caught on to
that, Hunter probably would've offered to share Ophelia (again, like the deal he offers Sterling). If David refused, Hunter would've had less leverage than with Sterling, because David had a good-paying job. Unless Ophelia was already in thrall to Hunter, then Hunter would've probably had to kill David, or else lose Ophelia. (By the way, unless David is secretly still alive in the present, then I bet that Hunter had
something to do with his death.)
If Hunter managed to seduce Ophelia completely, then I expect that David would've found out, sooner or later. Then simply taking her away wouldn't solve things, because she'd still long for Hunter. Either David would've killed Hunter (as he nearly did with the Nora/Keira discovery), or he would've killed himself, or both. If David
only killed himself, I imagine Hunter fucking Ophelia every day, helping raise her 3 kids (from David) and several more they conceived together.
What if Hunter framed Sterling early on in the game right before Drew arrived?
Hmm... Hunter wins? Not quite as intriguing as your other suggestion.
