WWG is now like a cheating wife who leaves the house after saying, "Yes, I slept with him," with no regard for the husband and children behind.

even if he had explained that the reason for the delay you can't have any guarantee if it's true or false, maybe in the future penalties could be applied that if the creator after not having respected the delivery times of the game within the pre-established times that all patreons are automatically refunded and this can protect more those who release money to the developer
Domino's Pizza tried that 40 years ago, and it was a miserable failure.

the only thing that bothers me about the announcement is that it comes out of nowhere. at the beginning of march it was said that it would be ready in march and then all of a sudden he needs months more? it's ok for me if the update needs more time, but then you should communicate that better. no one can tell me that he didn't know that at the beginning of march, especially if you already have a certain amount of experience, like he does.

Lot of people trying to explain for other people why they are mad. Just read their posts, you don’t have to guess and make up a head canon.

WWG misled his audience about the game’s development progress and timeline. Some think he may have had legitimate personal reasons and some think he lazed off and didn’t do anything but make teasers for the past several months. The likelihood of either is equal because as has been said, he’s chosen not to explain himself to his funders despite being funded for years.

It’s not anyone here’s responsibility to imagine a special set of circumstances that excuse this all away when even the dev doesn’t want to. Think what you want to think, though.
No way the chance is equal, like what do you mean? Considering all the stuff you mention yourself(Him not explaining himself to funders, him misleading his audience, the total lack of communication, etc) . I'm not saying that there is no chance he is saying the truth, but to me and many more people here, it is wayyyyy more likely that something else besides IRL stuff(or maybe a combination tbf) prevented him from doing it and considering how much people looked forward to this, the no context answer we got provided to me is unacceptable.

Hey man, I get what you're saying but the reality is we just don't know. If the issue is saying they're equal, sure, you can have your own odds. If the no-context to you is unacceptable, sure, I get that too. I don't think that's wild. That's why I ended with the below sentence.

Think what you want to think, though.
I'll say, I don't think this is good practice either and has lowered my opinion of them dramatically. "I'll let you know if anything comes up. I've been working non-stop on the update" turning into "I've been having real life issues and this has resulted in me losing large amounts of time" within 4 weeks and not saying anything until two days before your self-proposed deadline I think warrants discussion, instead of just being ignored or silenced.

That's just dumb. No dev ACTUALLY knows when they will be done with a chapter. Their release dates are just predictions. If you set penalties, no dev will ever predict when they think they will be done with a chapter. Then you'll get 1 of 2 things. Devs that have random updates without announcements or updates coming out at their release date unfinished for fear of mass refunding because they were a few days off of their prediction.
unfortunately I'm noticing that lately updates are being completed more in the long term than in the short term as in the past. This is only to the advantage of the developer but I can understand that the patrons can complain about what happened. This is not the case with WWW which has always left quality updates, but in general I'm noticing that developers are taking it a bit too easy lately

Fallacy of composition. You may feel that there is a general tendency of that kind, but I doubt you have access to enough data to objectively verify that assumption. I guess everyone here would be able to name a few devs who in their opinion are clearly lazy/milking/whatever. But I at least think I'd be able to name just as many who are working diligently and reliably.

This kind of generalization just leads to prejudice and misconception imho.

I don't like to generalize but I'm noticing that lately there is this trend, I'm one of those who for Power Vacuum would wait even years for an update given the quality but in general I see many developers who once they reach a good number of patreons tend to "rest on their laurels" and then release an update that is not even worth a third of a Power Vacuum update

You're right I have also noticed the same, especially 2024 was awful for it, almost every project I follow saw a single update over the year with several not getting that. I don't know what is up with it but it destroys my confidence in this entire process. Also the "Reworks" how many projects now are remaking whatever they did over the last five years with the reason given "Updating to the current standard". Fuck you, finish your project and then update it.

Yeah that's the reason WWG's the only dev I support. His updates have a good amount of content to development time and it's quality improves each update. Frequent teasers, status updates and bonus content like what ifs and to a lesser extent dream scenes also help.

His credibility took a big hit by the last status update imo and will live and die based on the updates quality and amount of content. Especially with the bonus content being moved to last chance.

Hell this could be a delay till 2026 and people would still be defending the delay :ROFLMAO:
"The delay" is not something they are arguing for. They are defending a developer who is almost done with a game, which is quite uncommon on this section of the internet.

If you look at how many games failed to make it past the fourth and fifth releases, you can imagine scolding a developer for missing the deadline to deliver THE LAST CHAPTER.

Rudeness is comprehensible but not acceptable, but criticism is appropriate.

Re-read the status update in a vain attempt to find something to placate myself with but instead found myself newly annoyed by his last line;

"I'm as unhappy about this as anyone"
This pisses me off not because I'm unempathetic or not comprehending where he's coming from but bc it implies both parties have equal understandings of what caused 'this' when in reality only he knows the details we just get the result. I've not given up on him and I'm not saying we're entitled to know his personal life story but without knowing more of the reason saying he's as upset as we are feels hollow and insulting to say the least.

Yes I'm being dramatic. No that doesn't make me wrong/less of an overall fan. Yes it will be part of the reason I drink tonight.
