Huh? If he said nothing people would still be wondering where the hell the update is that he said was 93% completed at the beginning of January, likely claiming that to be a lie.
not really. the argument is his predictions. if he never did percentages or any form of tell of how much he thought he had complete, there would be no lie to poke at. it would just waiting for teasers and see when it drops.

and yes, how much he "thought" he had completed. The game is worked on and developed with just an idea what the next update will hold. ask most devs, scenes are added as it goes. You often get a flash of an idea and you add a scene that wasn't planned. In this case, it's the devs last chapter. he said he is trying to include as much as possible. Not to mention he had to add extra scenes for the last chance polls.

If he never said anything people would be mad he never said anything. Sure, there'd be less people mad but he'd probably have less patrons as well. This is a pointless thought experiment and idk what point youre trying to make.

We know he's doing epilogues, and if he's this far behind, why not just save a couple scenes for the epilogues? In December he said it was a slow month in which he had the flu and obviously the holidays yet he still completed 4% of the update. We're three months away from that point and he thinks he needs another couple?

That was the truth. He shouldn't have made this random announcement.
After waiting for more than a year, everyone was waiting anxiously and suppressed.
His sudden announcement was like a battle horn, inspiring everyone's fighting spirit. His popularity reached its peak.
Then he "mistaken".
The anger is justified. Even for free players. These free players come because they love and look forward to this game too.

I didn't say, "say nothing". I said, anything to do when it's going to release. He would still posts status updates every 15 days as usual to show his work and what scenes he's done. things that get people excited for the upcoming chapter.

This is weird. you say free players. Just call it what they are, pirates and that's fine. I'm guilty of pirating games too, it's why were all on this site. The way you word it makes it sound like WWG gives out a free edition. Which some devs do.

it's just weird that the people that are pirating, are complaining the loudest, telling the pledgers what they should be feeling. While the people pledging have been mostly cool headed and understanding.

Why is that? that the pledges are not the ones up in arms, but the pirates are angry about the missed date?

Most of his recent status updates are literally just a percentage...

I know. I'm talking about that being the root the problem. He gave %'s and timeframes and he wasn't on the mark. The forum exploded. So i called out that the anger stems from the dev's post about his timeframes. So i'm saying that the anger is really dumb and that can be cancelled out by the dev not posting things like %'s and guesses. Instead just work on the game and keep us updated. his pledgers are not the ones mad that he missed his guess.

what i'm trying to get at is. If he didn't give us timeframes on when he thought he was going to finish, this bump in the road that happened to him could have happened and we would have never know, unless he tells us. We would just assume he is working on the game, business as usual. we wouldn't have known it happened right at the finish line either. .he would just continue with teasers and normal status updates every 15 days.

that about sums it up.

The root of the problem is this update is taking forever and people are frustrated, and anything they could complain about, they would.
It's not what the root of the arguments for pages has been. Not even my words, but theirs. The complaints have been the missed deadline he set on himself. it's all the complaints have been about. The length itself is not what people are mad about. The pledgers have been patient and will continue to wait. So no, length is not the cause of the pages of debating.

Y'all still mad about this, that's crazy. It's been almost a week, just move on. Guy just couldn't update on time when he said he could, ended up baiting literally everyone until the last straw. It is what it is, only people getting shafted are the people who pledged. The rest of us should just touch grass until the guy wants to release the update, it's not the end of the world. Type shit.

The length is why people feel lied to. Going from "This'll take a month" to "I need two more months, three total" is what feels most like the lie. I dont think WWG lied personally, but I do think, given all the evidence, that he didnt keep his word when he said he'd keep people up to date. Two more months of work dont manifest themselves out of thin air.

The pledgers have been patient and will continue to wait.
IDK why you keep bringing up pledgers as if they matter. Ever heard of the suck cost fallacy?

The pledgers don't matter? How can you say that? The pledgers are ALL that matter. Keep them happy and they stay pledge and for the most part, yes, the most part, they have been. We aren't going to judge his 5 years of development over this 2 month delay.

This game doesn't run off the pirates. Having pledgers are what keep the game in development. This game is WWGs main income. To say that pledgers don't matter, like this game would exist without them?

Just imagine if he made the game for pirates first and his pledgers second. I don't care what side of the argument you're on. You absolutely know the pledgers (aka the money) should be WWGs goals.

It might be smart if WWG changes his approach to episodic storytelling for his next game. Maybe he can plan a more compartmentalized story, so he can put out smaller and more frequent updates? I mean, I love how a chapter in Power Vacuum gives attention to many characters, and interweaves their stories into something cohesive, but the downside is it takes a long time to create something like that.
Maybe he will consider that smarter as to better placate the masses. I really hope not though. I feel it would unnecessarily constrict him in the way he lays out his story, either directly leading to a worse end result or indirectly via deadening his spirit first.
Like you said, i love the interweaving stores, where you have to see enough of a characters story to do another persons. I'm sure it can be done, but it's not the same when a dev jumps you around in the story compared to having some control yourself.

regardless. His name game will probably hit the reset button. With new story means the characters have their inhibitions about incest. So i wouldn't expect much, if any, sex scenes. so earlier chapters will probably be coming out faster since it'll be less animating and more story building.
Yeah, and people will complain that he should work faster, maybe make larger updates, to finally get to the sexy stuff. -.-
He said "update is still progressing, just at a slower pace." not that it had been put on pause.
"At least 2 months" is so crazy that I still think he might have meant to say "at most 2 months"
So, WWG not being able to work on PV at all for a certain amount of time isn't possible because of the exact wording he used and what you make of it, but if it means you'll get your fix sooner it's totally possible he just mistyped something.
We know he's doing epilogues, and if he's this far behind, why not just save a couple scenes for the epilogues?
Because they're describing stuff that's meant to happen at a point in the story before the epilogues?
With that line of thought one might wanna propose to him to leave the character introductions for a DLC in his next game, so he gets to the sexy stuff earlier.
EDIT: Have you played this game at all?

There also seems to be a misconception of how much work still needs to be done. WWG is dealing with IRL issues that are preventing work on the game. Whatever those issues are need to be resolved before he can continue. He doesn't know how long it's going to take to reach the point that he'll be able to resume proper work on the game.

The last completion percent number he gave was 93% complete back in January. How much of that 7% remains is unknown but none of it can get done if outside factors are preventing progress. It's not he needs 2+ months to work on completing the update, it's he needs that time to get his other shit in order and finish the update.

To be fair, we don't know that either. I share your interpretation 100%, but it's still just an interpretation of the scarce details WWG gave us about the situation.
The problem is that people tend to consider their own opinion to be facts. :/

“We aren't going to judge his 5 years of development over this 2 month delay.”

We aren’t either, we’re judging him off of the many times he’s done this in the past and now again. The difference is that you pretend it’s never happened before and his 5 years of development have been perfect in your eyes. He’s your favorite dev of all time, you tried to model your own game after him, you ignore/excuse any issues he’s had thats why you view everything so differently and are incapable of criticism towards him.

“The game doesn’t run off pirates”

The game wouldn’t exist without pirates. Where do you think his pledgers came from? You think they’re all just scouring Patreon for completely unknown games? No, they try it first on sites like this then decide to pledge. Without piracy sites WWG and PV don’t exist. Not to mention some of us are former pledges who’ve put money into supporting him already.

I counted four times in total (including now). One of which was the Patreon purge (Chapter Ten) and one was a few months before the release date (Chapter Seven). So, when it comes to the same circumstances as this one, where he said he needed an extra month just before he was supposed to release, it's once (Chapter Twelve). One time he has done this. On one time you're judging this.

If I'm wrong and you can show me the many times he's done this, feel free to let me know.
