I get what you mean, I just think the phrase has more than one definition, i.e. an author developing a character (which I'm talking about), vs. a character developing over the course of a story.

I've made this argument in the past and it was poorly received by some, but here it is: the REAL story is that Sterling is becoming Hunter. Not literally, but he's embracing his legacy as the fabled "dio del sesso" ("god of sex"), which is what Hunter wanted all along. It's the "Xanatos Gambit"; no matter what happens, Hunter wins.

We're biased to see Sterling as the hero because he's the main character and we view the story from his perspective. I like to think that he genuinely cares about most of the women, but his apparently altruistic deeds are ultimately self-serving. Sterling is also deceptive and knowingly capitalizes on the fact that the women are being drugged, but there is a difference in that Sterling is not (yet?) able to easily manipulate their wills, the way Hunter does (in "bad ends"). It remains to be seen whether Sterling becomes exactly like Hunter, but I think he'll become who Hunter would have been, had Hunter not been physically disfigured.

"It's like poetry, it rhymes." :geek:
Yeah, that would make the most sense in the end. Even Hunter seems to care about them genuinely. I think he honestly thinks it's good for them and outside of the drugs, he does actually talk them into it unlike the others who often force through the word 'no' even with the drugs, lol. I don't really have any problem with Hunter because he's consistent, and I'd have no problem with Sterling if was equally consistent or at least accountable when he was wrong.

At least if he wasn't self-righteous which just feels so out of place and makes him less likable. Especially when anyone catches him being messed up and there's no resolution he's just like "what's the big deal?" and the girls are like "yeah..." It just makes the conflicts feel like very flimsy and inconsequential stalls between the sex scenes rather than plot.

It's like the thing about a taboo being the driver for a story is that the characters have to take it seriously. If the characters don't really care or there are no consequences then it is just a series of sex scenes. Most of the character interaction and drama is based on 'this person can't find out' or 'these two can't have sex' or cheating or lying, etc. But each time the threat is realized it's the most anti-climatic reaction that suspends disbelief. Like, I could never imagine women taking grape (not sure how sensitive this forum is) so lightly as it's constantly brought up and done and there is no even semblance of actual effect or consequence. It just becomes hard to see the characters as real people, even in a fantasy, if they have no relatable human responses. And ends up feeling like why bring it up if it has no meaning, it's not even a taboo if no one actually cares.

Anyway, as you can see, it's a block for me, lol. But, I'm bordering on ranting and I really do not want to do that. It was just my surprise seeing someone had seen it so differently and I was eager to hear a different perspective genuinely hoping I was missing a piece that would make it all click. But, in lieu of that, I don't want to just bad mouth it. So, I'll stop there. Really, thanks for the respectful engagement.

No, I mean Brenna going scorched earth IS the reason why he doesn't tell her. Without giving too much away, Brenna comes in a situation where she feels she needs to protect the situation and the way she does it, well, a lot of people in this thread complained about it and said that it was too far.
I just got to it and I thought it would be something in the past... It can't be the reason he didn't tell her because he had no idea that she would do something like that. Especially since this action changed his feelings for her... which, lol.

For Sterling to be like "I can't love you because you did that..." I just can't with this guy. Even if Brenna went too far...how was it possibly worse than any of the things Sterling has done directly to HER? Mutually assured destruction of some stranger that arguably went way too far in the thing Brenna's most afraid of, which Sterling should know. Brenna didn't actually do anything but threaten. But that's unforgivable to Sterling while he himself broke Brenna's trust directly multiple times? Forcing himself on her, lying to her, and making her think she's crazy when she asks him not to lie to her and it's only protecting himself. There's literally no reason not to tell her because what could she do worse than what's already happened to Hunter, lol? Sterling has flagrantly interfered with each of his plans costing him grievous injuries and NOTHING happened. So, why not tell Brenna at least? There isn't even a financial threat anymore because of Brenna. This guy...

The only way it makes sense is if Sterling really is just taking advantage of the situation. Maybe he's lying to himself, but there's no moral high ground to any of his actions.

That's it. I'm Team Hunter and Drew now. Sterling is a spoiled, self-righteous, hypocritical man-child. My least favorite trope. I'm taking all the NTR endings as canon now... :ROFLMAO:

There are only villains in this story lol. Has Sterling been unknowingly taking the drugs this whole time like the girls have been? It has been a while since I last played so i forgot. I always think back to the time where Brenna and Sterling were hanging out underneath that tree and how deep shit got between them on an emotional level. It makes me wonder about how things would of been if he had never left the house. There is definitely a strong love shared between Sterling and the girls so I guess he'll always be one up on every other ntr antagonist in that regard?

to tell you the truth it has always been straight up MC storyline the one that your imagining are the bad ENDS that you choose too and the other WHAT IF ending story are just what IF side Story if you choose this path and it will tell you the ending of that path and for MC the story is for him that NTR tag isn't for the NTR story its only apply in its BAD END because its in the BAD ENDING choices that you set as path and in that story it included as NTR storyline and thats that only that part are NTR not included in the story progression as of now and it will never be because it made it like that so the NTR is just a side bad ending if you choose to or not :BootyTime: ...

YES!!! Sterling is the MOST drugged out of all of them!!!

He was a shrimp, he was breast height with Ophelia and Brenna now he's taller than both of them and suprice surprice Hunter had human growth hormone stowed away. If Hunter wasn't personalising the cocktails he was giving out and just putting everything in one pot to give out to the entire family then at least Cath should have hit a growth sprout as well.

And in one conversation with Drew, Hunter explicitly stated that he was gonna add a drug that 'only worked on males'.

Lucia was sure she avoided being drugged because she caught Hunter trying to drug her and, guess what? She also got drugged. Props to Lucia btw she was the only one to actually realise that she was being drugged... after like 7 chapters of sexual escalation.

Do I think Sterling is kinda retarded? Yes, both him and Lucia should have sussed out that there was a lot in their behaviour was because of the drugs despite them knowing about it and I suppose avoiding some of the dosage. But on the other hand I don't know how much thinking (without your dick) I can ask out of someone that is constantly High (on what probably is mostly aphrodisiacs), as someone that went to a liberal arts college I can tell you I've lowered my expectations on that a bit.

That said the only character I would call actually brainless is Flora.
